Title: Karting and its similarities to NASCAR
Post by: EVO on November 30, 2011, 07:56:21 AM
Watching various top level Karting videos from WKA,WSK,CIK-FIA, etc i noticed several simalarities between Karting and Nascar
Most Noticable first.

BUMP DRAFTING
WRECKS
MESSED UP BODYWORK AFTER 1 LAP
DRIVER AGGRESSION (SOMETIMES STUPIDITY)
MANY BRANDS WITH MANY DRIVERS (other forms of racing BRANDS limited to two or three cars)
HIGH BUDGET YET SIMPLE SPORT = NOT FAIR

Many say the wide bumpers ruined Karting and today's Karters trying to progress to open wheel becuase their is no more fear of contacting wheels and flipping. There is less flipping now but more crashes becuase drivers are fearless.  They abuse their Karts and engines knowing their high budget team can afford to repalce everything.

Karting should be a sport everyone can enjoy even the Privateer at the top levels without fear of being wrecked $$$$$$$$$$$
I know some great Kart drivers that could of made it to the next level they just could not afford to go racing.

What do you think!?

I do completely agree with you, but I have only one thing. Bump drafting is great.  ;)
