KS1 gear change in Beta4

I have a proposal for modifying the KS1 gear change behavior in Beta4 (all aids disabled).

- Upshift without lifting the throttle should not be possible at all. In Beta3 it's possible at max rev.

- The amount of lifting the throttle for upshift should be lowered.

- The window when you can change the gear should be widened a bit. If you use a separate shifter, like Logitech G25, it's not so easy to synchronize the timing between lifting the throttle and the final click of the micro-switch. It would be nice to have some milliseconds more.

In real life it's much easier to shift, because you feel the resistance of the gearshift and it can't be moved until you release the throttle a bit. Game controllers don't offer this feature.

Here is a small diagram of the situation:

Agree

I had practice in the last weeks and I shifted quite good but the system have to be improved yet. Your idea goes for the right way in my opinion.

The Iceman Marco

When I was told yesterday that I shift wrong I tried to do it good. But it's very difficult to do perfect. I had only a few laps were the shifting was perfect. But then the lines weren't perfect. When I drove the perfect lines the shifting wasn't good. So it's very hard to do drive a perfect lap. When the shifting will be a bit longer it will be much better and easier.

Somehow, I have the feeling that we do not talk about the same game. I guess some of us have no clean install of Beta 3 or have different settings for throttle.

Since Beta 3, I think it's very easy to shift and you can do this with lifting throttel a bit (I would say about 5%).For me, its even less than in real world. Furthermore, I have the feeling that the time where you can shift is reqlly long enough. If you shift very fast, revs even go up a bit (I think this is because of the way it works, something like automatic clutch).

Only difference for me is that, like you said before, you cant move the shiftstick in reality when you do not lift the pedal...

I use F1 style paddels of my wheel, but tried anexternal shifter back then with Beta 2, and for me it worked even better... All aids off btw

- yes, same feeling, but i'm thinking it is also fault of lag. now it's some mounths i drive ks1 and i have no problems with shift up(no aids and stick of g25), wrong shift up is a rare thing, instead online, many wrong shift up cause of the lag

- i think the same

but wrong shifts happen to me once every 3-5 laps
mmm, to me happens about once every 5 or 6 laps

I just drove some laps at Villarcayo Alpha3 with Aritz and Schwoni. This time I had much more problems with upshift. One or two times each lap (relatively high ping).

Aritz reported similar problems.
so, when there is lag it seems the game is not able to syncronize well throttle, gear stick and engine

yepp

I couldn't upshift nor downshift correctly. Today I will test again alone, in offline mode.

Tested and as I thought, not good yet for me.

Take a look at the second 12:

I shifted down from 5th to 3rd very fast "pom-pom". I tried the same in KRP and 50% of the times I failed.
