core.ini - RenderToTexture
« on: August 16, 2017, 02:05:37 AM »
Hi, PiBoSo. Could you explain what the [HACKS] section of core.ini does? I am specifically looking at the "NoRenderToTexture" line, but things like "NoPBuffer" and others in that section havent been explained (as far as I know) and I'd like to know if there is any use for them in developing for KRP. Thank you, and sorry if I posted this in the wrong section of the forum, I'm not sure what topic this should go in.

NoPBuffer and NoRenderToTexture are legacy settings. They are unused on modern video cards, unless NoFBO is set to 1.
Setting NoFBO to 1 is not recommended, as it would force the engine to use an old and slow rendering path.
NoPBO in theory should be set to 0, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
NoHDR must be set to 1 until work on HDR support is completed. In the meantime, activating it would only be a waste of video memory.

Last but not least, feel free to set ColorMipMaps to 1 for a psychedelic experience  :)
