Hello all,

If you haven't been watching WRS forums lately, you aren't probably aware of this.

First, let me introduce myself.  Some of you might know me already, I have been working since 2012 on nordschleife conversions.  It started with a conversion of the Ring 2007 2.2a by com8 for rFactor 1 to rF2.  The track wasn't looking very good originally in rF2, and the textures were dating a lot.

With the donations I received from the generous members of the rF2 community, I have been able to purchase a lot of textures, plugins, apps to make my life easier to work on the conversion.

For a while, I wanted to share the textures with some modders, but having only 100kb/s upload speed doesn't make the process easy.

Now, my harddrives are aging, and they have seen a lot of work in the past 3 years, so I would feel better anyway if I had a backup of these online.  So now is a good time to share them as well.

What I'm offering is this:

3 collections of rendered alpha masked trees (3000x3000 for the first collection, and 3500x3500 for the other two, and 1000x1000, 1500x1500 for the smaller bushes)
and a lot of textures coming from gametextures.com.  I subscribed for a month to a dev account so I could have access to unlimited download, 2kx2k textures and requests, and made good use of my subscription.  I have about 5-6 textures made for the nordschleife itself, but can be used for any fantasy race tracks, or other race tracks using similar fences, guardrails, etc...

All I'm asking is that you don't download a folder as zip, and get what you need as you need it.  Everything is uncompressed to make this easier.   And of course a little credit for them.  I would also like to see your project, so if you could send me a pm to let me know about it, so I can download and see your track live, I would also highly appreciate.  It would be good for me to see how you used the textures that I'm familiar with, and see how you applied them differently.  I still have a lot to learn.  And most of all, please, don't share the link by yourself.  If you know someone who can be trusted, who could benefit from having these, let me know, or have him contact me, I'll hand him out the folder link.

You can check out pdf thumbnails for the trees here:

Pierre-André

Thank you for sharing your textures, that's a great gesture. :)  The modders here and at the GPB/WRS forum will enjoy them.
I hope that we'll meet one day at your new Nordschleife with WRS or KRP.

Your welcome :)

When I started my com8 conversion, the track badly needed textures, and I know how hard it can be to find good textures, suitable for a race track.  CGTextures isn't bad, but you often need to spend quite some time to get a good tileable texture, and converting a track already in a bad state requires already a lot of work in Max... or worse, creating from scratch.

I was able to buy these with the donations I received while working on it, so I'm happy to let other people access to these, as they are pretty good actually.  And since I'm not sure if I'll ever work on a track other than nordschleife, it haven't happened in three years, might be a while, so I will hardly ever use even 10% of them :)   I'd rather let other people use them so they do not go to waste.  Cause as good as they are, in a few years from now, when resolution will have shifted mainstream to higher resolution, 2k won't mean anything.  So they won't be worth something eternally.

Plus, yeah, I like to make people happy when I can, makes me feel good in return :)

And we will all have some better looking tracks too :)

Actually, karting on the nordschleife isn't all that bad with a kart that goes to 180-200+ :)  there is one in rfactor 2 that reaches 180 and its a lot of fun on the nordschleife :)  It could easily compete with some cars over the course of a lap.   It would be nice to see all piboso's games be able to play with each others.  Its hard to believe it's not possible atm.. it would be a very nice selling point, since there would be no other games that offers this possibility atm and a very nice incentive to buy them all.  rF1-rF2-GSCE allows you to race cars against kart, but bikes against cars, against kart.. that would be interesting with (cars/bikes/karts) that lap about the same time on a given track.  It's interesting when there is a large top speed difference between two cars, and of course, a large grip difference as well.   Of course, not all tracks are suitable for this, but still...  hope that it get considered soon, as I've read a few people are asking this as well :)

Dirt cars against motocross anyone? :)

KRP's KZ1 karts also aren't so bad at Nordschleife. They go around 175+ (180 downhill Fuchsroehre). Only problem is the bumpy track which we have atm.

Depending on which WRS car I use, the kart is 40-100 seconds slower but a lot of fun. :)

But the kart is still faster than all recorded times of the bikes. ;)

A competition between all vehicels of PiBoSo's sims would be nice at some tracks. ;D
