Braking Pressure Entering a Corner?

MY brake pads always end up being rubbed down a lot almost every time I come off the track. My dad says that I am not supposed to use maximum braking but brake half of that, so basically below the threshold point. I told him that it would take a longer time to slow me down therefore not being able to carry as much straightaway speed while the karts could just fly past me. Is it true that I should half way brake or still threshold brake?

Put spacers in the brake caliper to move pads closer. OTK does this automatically.

The majority of your braking should be done before the corner but as late as possible, but most driver coaches will tell you to then bleed of the brake but still hold some pressure into the entry of the corner. This was you can come straight of the brake and onto the power rather than coasting thru the corners.
Hope this helped
