well, I know what is it, I know what it is used for, I know I have to use it with F100 with low setting of carb, but some questions

- is it used in modern kart? kf1 kf3 kz1?
it seems impossible to use it in kz1 (gear level) and kz1 (front brake) but in the game is modelled in kz1

- in real, kart drivers can cover those 2 holes of the air box with 1 hand or they have another kind of air box?

Sam

its one thing that most drivers no about kz1 never use it in a race it just to hard kf1 and that the air holes are hard to get to but kt100 j and s do its all about the airbox u can do it with any engine if u can get to the air box all it is is its putting fuel in the engine to cool it down this means u can run a lean carby and not get it to hot. it also turns out that if u cant choke nicely ur going to hard into the corner in real life so this can fix ur driving

air choking is when you choke the air and then you got no more air to choke when air-choken! ;)

got it?

SimRacer

Is this in the latest build? If so I might have to add an airbox to my rig with an ultrasonic sensor in it to activate when you cover the hole.

Dan Buck

it's here since Beta7

SimRacer

Awesome. Does it have an effect on kart, or is it purely visual?

Dan Buck

it chokes the air going to your engine, and your kart stops receiving air and stops working for a while! you have to lift your foot off the gas and press it again to reset engine power... just like the real thing

Sam

u can only choke a f100 because if u choke any other kart it just floods the motor

i've never turned off my kart like a switch by air choking.  it always turns off slowely in real life

Time to get hold of a cheap airbox on ebay and an ultrasonic sensor (or maybe a photoresistor hmmm). Is the input analog? Sorry for the questions, I haven't played the game in a while and I'm in the process of building my rig.

EVO

by analog you mean on or off right? i think yes

Analog meaning an input with a value between 0 and n, Digital meaning on and off.

it's a digital input

why with KF1 I can put carb at zero and don't need to choke?

Because the engines are not so "High Performance" like in the old 100cc classes...More cc (125) and less HP + less rpm...AND they have a clutch....without it like in FA or IC-A the engine stops when you brake hard so that the tires stop for a moment.....And IN the engine the Temerature rises up very fast in the braking moment (I dont go in the detail now) ;)

I must say one important thing.....in real we used choke only on the Rotary Valve Engines because in the IC-A Class (like the 100cc in game with Reed Valve)  you can damage the Valves (because of the extreme pressure and wide opening of the valves in the moment of choking).....Lots of people choke with the IC-A engines but in Races we dont did this.
