Also, will a Xbox 360 Controller that is compatible with my operating system work with KRP?

dibu

I'm quite sure you will be disapointed with this equipment.

Laptop:
Processor is low end
Graphics card is much too slow for a good KRP experience.

Controller:
My advice is to buy a wheel.

Hi,

Thanks for such a quick reply - I take onboard your comments!

I currently have a wheel for KRP but the wheel just doesn't come up when using the game. Also for portability reasons I was looking at using a controller too, would the controller work - do you think?

Cheers,

Matt

XBox 360 controllers work (i didn't try myself) but you'll be slow. ;D
I have a Logitech gamepad at my second pc and it doesn't compare to the wheel.
See here for the XBox controller:

Thanks dibu,

Is there any reason why my steering wheel won't register? It is fairly old but works with other games :/

It doesn't show up if you go to  Settings -> Input -> Calibration?

Which wheel do you have?

EVO

several months ago i bought a HP pavilion dv6 for $420.  with High performance battery settnings, $40 for 8gb of ram and an over clock to 2.8 i can play KRP at 30fps.  It clocked to 1.6ghz standard with AMD A83500.  I would not over clock over 3.0 though or you wil get BSOD and possibly do damage.

Thanks for the info Dibu and EVO, I have decided to go for a more powerful laptop, that I have found cheaper than the HP - so win, win!

Dibu - it is a Trust steering wheel, I really can't think of the model but when I find the box tomorrow I will post it here. It connects by a standard USB connection and works on games like Racedrive: Grid and Super One Karting. Last time, when I plugged it in during KRP, I was on settings, trying to set the controls, I would turn the wheel to the left to try and set left turns as that movement and add the control etc but it just wouldn't register - am I doing something wrong?

You have to calibrate it first by clicking calibrartion before mapping the buttons and axis
