How did you do the track over the video?

How did you do the track over the video?

The Wheel recorded with my HD Canon videocamera.
The pedals recorded with a HD Logitech Webcam.
The ingame onboard footage was recorded live with Fraps.
The ingame tv footage was recorded later in the replay mode with Fraps.

The trackmap was a combination of multiple things:
- Fraps
- Photoshop
- After Effects
- Premiere Pro

See the screenshots i uploaded with this reply :

First i took a screendump of the ingame track layout, using Fraps, but, you can use any kind of screendump software.

2. Then i used photoshop to outlined the track, so i had only the track as a white line on a transparant background.

3. I added a black background behind it. But selected after that the white track layer, returned to the black background layer en hit delete,
so you get the black background with a transparant track line, see photo 4!

5. In after effects i used some tools to create a color line. I used a youtube tutorial : http://youtu.be/5cn9LNFuwNM
Forget the part between 4:10 - 9:20.

And to render the composition with a transparant background, you have to see this tutorial : http://youtu.be/IJ44S1hC0UA

Its important, that the layer with the color line, in this case the yellow line, is in after effects the middle layer. So in the end, it looks like the white track line fills with the yellow line, in fact, the yellow line is bigger and wider then the track line, but you dont see it, because the black background is above the yellow line.

- make the composition in after effects even long(seconds) as you tracktime. Then finally in premiere pro, you have to tweak the speed of the video track file a bit, so in the end, the track line runs even fast as you on the track with your kart.

Hope this info is clear for you?

 Awesome!  :) You've done a great job.
And,I have a question - on one of your videos, you've connected an additional monitor that simulates the gauge including lap time(current) and some more stats. Is the thing with the current lap time a mod?Because I didn't know that something like this exists in KRP..

its a little program, you can download the fully functional demo here : http://www.z1simwheel.com/dashboard/index.cfm
Demo = 15 minute limit.  You can choose, custom, setup a dashboard, and for example run it on a second connected monitor like me.
A little bit of reading and puzzling, but the website has every info you need !!!   :P ;D
