Track Editing / Re: Track creation Tutorials

You asked where you could find textures for 3ds Max 2021, hence was my answer.

To make it work in KRP, you can find any tileable texture and amend it with the image editor of your choice to meet the following requirements:

Supported texture formats:
  • truecolor TGA
  • truecolor BMP
  • DXT1, DXT3 or DXT5 DDS
Every texture must have power of 2 (eg: 256, 512, 1024, 2048) dimensions. They can be rectangular (eg: 32x128)

3ds Max can accept a wide range of image formats (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/3DSMax-Manage-Scenes/files/GUID-33CBE5B2-DFE9-49FF-9D4F-AA7ABF62138E-htm.html).

Just Google free seamless/tileable textures of tarmac, concrete, grass, etc.

Yeah, meters are fine. Also set Display Unit Scale to meters.

Hi, extract the files from the downloaded mod archive and copy folders karts, engines (and others, if there are more) to Documents\PiBoSo\Kart Racing Pro\mods. Launch the game, go to Kart, click on Category and select the mod from the drop-down list.

Hi, yes, but, unfortunately, the info you've provided doesn't look like a report.wer, the structure is totally different (as a point of reference, see your post from December 30th - that was the correct one). BTW, these .WER reports are automatically generated and stored by Windows, they do not disappear if you uninstall the programme.

Well, anyway, have you tried a new Release 12???

Yep, fbx2edf is a part of PiBoSo's Track Tools (https://kartracing-pro.com/?page=downloads). You'll need to create .TRP and .MAP files. Please refer to http://docs.piboso.com/wiki/index.php?title=FBX2EDF for details.

PayeTonBlaze, you're welcome!

Sadly, the issue's not resolved and I'm running out of ideas...

Installing the game on a brand new HDD will not change a thing as you're still running the same installation of the operating system. BTW, can you please attach the file Report.wer? It should contain a list of loaded modules, and this is exactly what I'm looking for.

Quote from: Blackcaim on January 07, 2021, 01:32:34 PMCorrect me if I'm wrong, but I heard you can only use the 2010 edition of 3DSMAX to do track modding for the game? If that's the case, then there's no way to find the software legally. Is there are any other alternatives other than using 3DSMAX?
Hi, you can use any version of 3dsMax, just export the track to the FBX format. Though 3ds Max is indeed great, its downside, in my opinion, is Autodesk's pricing policy which is hardly justifiable for a non-commercial activity.

A rather popular alternative here is a combination of Bob's Track Builder (BTB) and 3DSimED. BTB is quite easy to learn and, with practice, one can achieve a very decent result with it. For an easy creation of assets, any free 3D editor capable of exporting to common formats can be used.

Blender might also be a good alternative. It does involve a lot of learning, but it's a powerful tool and totally free to use.

I see, OK.

To get the track working in the game, you need to do the following:

  • In Bob's Track Builder, export the track to rFactor format (File -> Export -> rFactor tab, default export settings are fine, just choose a folder where you'd like to keep the files);
  • Get the latest version of 3DSimED (http://sim-garage.co.uk/3dsimed3-download/). It comes as a full-featured 20-day trial, but if you are planning to do more than one track I advise you to consider purchasing the licence;
  • In 3DSimED:
    • Import your rFactor track (File -> Import);
    • Delete unnecessary objects (e.g. skyboxi, xfinish, xpitin, xpitout, xsector1, xsector2);
    • Rename collidable objects and surfaces so the game can recognise them (please refer to http://docs.piboso.com/wiki/index.php?title=Track_Creation_Guide for details);
    • Resize the model (Edit -> Resize, set X=100, Y=100, Z=100);
    • Export to FBX format (File -> Plugin Export, Save As Type: AutoDesk FBX Files, Settings: FBX ascii, Y-Axis Up, Copy Texture Maps - enabled);
  • Run fbx2edf from PiBoSo's Track Tools (https://kartracing-pro.com/?page=downloads) to create .TRP and .MAP files. Please refer to http://docs.piboso.com/wiki/index.php?title=FBX2EDF for details.

When all the above is done, please follow the instructions below:

Quote from: Racehard on January 07, 2011, 01:50:19 PMNext you will have to work with PiBoSo's Track Tools (Track Editor/ TrackED and Map Viewer) software, which you get from here: http://www.kartracing-pro.com/?page=downloads

Which both are pretty good explained here:
Map Viewer: (in Map Viewer you can open your .map file and see if it looks alright)
http://tools.piboso.com/index.php/Map_Viewer

TrackED: (in TrackED you finish your track for KRP)
http://tools.piboso.com/index.php/Track_Editor

Follow PiBoSo's Workflow instructions:
• Create a centerline
1. Centerline -> New
2. ....
If you finished that, you will have to create the Race Data.

Just play around a bit with the values and you will understand how it works.
(save the finsihed Race Data as .rdf file with the same filename as your .trp and .map file into the same folder)

And don't forget to set checkpoints to prevent cutting the track! In top right of the race data window you see the checkpoints, works exactly the same as setting up sectors, so just add as many checkpoints as you need to make the track secure against cheating.

This step is followed by the last part, bring it ingame :)

Right now you have the three files StyriaKarting.map, StyriaKarting.trp and StyriaKarting.rdf all in your track folder (StyriaKarting).

Navigate to the Kart Racing Pro main directory and copy the file tracks.pkz to a place of your choice (desktop or anywhere else), this file is a zip file, so you can open it with winrar or another archive program winzip etc. Inside the tracks file there's tracks\lonato. Extract the lonato folder to
X:\Program Files\Kart Racing Pro\tracks\
and rename it into your tracks name (StyriaKarting).

Inside the folder rename all lonato.xxx files into your tracks name (StyriaKarting.xxx)
-->  delete the file bestline.tl  --> copy and overwrite your three track files StyriaKarting.trp, .map and .rdf into it.

Now open the file StyriaKarting.ini (configuration file) with windows editor accessory and type in the correct data of your track)

The very last step before you can enjoy your new track in kart racing is to exchange the TGA pictures with appropriate ones of the same size and name showing your Track ;)

January 03, 2021, 01:43:09 PM
Copy this .PNT file to %UserProfile%\Documents\PiBoSo\Kart Racing Pro\mods\karts\c_mini60\paints
In KRP, go to Kart, choose Category: MINI60, Paint: Parolin OMP Kdad

A very Happy New Year to you too!

Quote from: PayeTonBlaze on January 02, 2021, 03:24:46 PMI remove "Kart Racing Pro" folder
I remove "Pisobo" Folder
I uninstall OpenAL
Run CCleaner
Reboot.

For Steam version, never uninstall because it is the first time I use steam with KRP

Right... I see. Would you like to perform the following steps?

  • Launch Steam, uninstall Kart Racing Pro and exit Steam;
  • Uninstall OpenAL in Add or Remove Programs app. Reboot your PC;
  • Open File Explorer;
  • Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and delete the folder Kart Racing Pro;
  • Go to C:\Program Files and delete Kart Racing Pro folder (in case you still have a standalone version on your PC);
  • Go to C:\Program Files (x86) and delete the folder named OpenAL;
  • Go to your Documents, locate the folder named PiBoSo and delete it;
  • Go to Start menu and type regedit. Open Registry Editor;
  • In the Registry Editor, click File -> Export and save a backup copy of the registry (just to be at the safe side);
  • Then click Edit -> Find and type kart.exe in the 'Find' window, press Find Next button. When the editor finds the key or entry with kart.exe in it, it will stop the search and highlight the result. Delete the highlighted entry by pressing Delete key. Then press F3 to search for the next result. Repeat these steps until the editor tells you the search is finished. Take your time with this process, don't rush it, delete only the highlighted entries! If you delete anything else by mistake, go to File -> Import, restore the backup copy of the registry, reboot your PC and repeat the search for kart.exe;
  • Close Registry Editor and restart you PC;
  • Go to Registry Editor again and run a search for kart.exe to make sure that no entries are found;
  • Install a standalone version of 11f (krp-rel11f.exe), just forget about Steam for a while. Do not download and install OpenAL manually, allow the game's installation wizard to install all it needs and try to launch KRP. Please attach the latest Report.wer in case the game fails to start;

Try to flip the track surface (see the attached image).
