Off-Topic / Re: How many active members play Iracing?
October 25, 2015, 02:46:45 PM
Greets all.  I have been racing online since mid 2000.  At 52 weeks a year I'd say until 2009 I raced over 300-400 races.  After 2009 schedule changed, no-pay racing community slowed down to a stop.  2009 to 2014 I just raced offline- practice and did 2 or 3 online races per year.  In 2014 I discovered KRP.  In my opinion its the greatest sim ever released.  But since purchasing the program(about 12 monthes now)  I have raced online with others less than 5 times, all of those races were hodge-podge practice sessions.  Well I have invested 15 years $$$$ in my simming hobby and sitting idle gathering dust is not an option.  2 things happened, 1 iR announced releasing the nring and 2. a 2 for 1 promo.

In augusst 2015 I became a subscriber.  iR has its plus and minuses.  Overall its a pleasant sim, its rules suit me to a tee, and the comp and fields are the best I've been in since 2003.

Still I would choose KRP over iR and choose iR over RF 1 or 2.

iR is costly but it is a budgetwise asset for excitement, fun, relaxation.  iR is not for low enders,  everything has to be top form, wheel & pedals will be stressed beyond reality; display is difficult- I use a 60" flat screen tv for KRP and that is so sweet!  In iR this 60" tv is all but worthless,  iR is better suited for 3 or more screen in some geometrical combination.  PC would best be as powerful as possible to handle the iR data.

Again I am firmly in KRP's camp and only acknowledge racing iR only because the thread is present.  If you have less than 2-3 years experience in racing I would shy away from pay to play racing unless you are patient and willing to learn from a lot of costly mistakes.

For the record I am a C class racer presently.

Hello.  You have posted in the wrong topic area firstly.  This is the track building related forum.  Go to the Tracks forum in the Mods section.  There you will find the list of available tracks and their host link.  Also in the Tracks forum is directions in large and small quantities on installing the tracks.  Peace.

Off-Topic / Make tracks....

I wish you cats could make tracks the same way you make mountains out of molehill topics.  Why so sensitive.  CALM DOWN!   ;D

Actually he is quite knowledgeable.  He has done a ton of really nice paints.  He has a mod constructed.  He knows his thing about track building.  In short he is right to criticize,  Nothing comes without hard work and most "WORK" in computing pertains to READING.  I just caught the bus this year and I need some time to sort personal affairs out before I can settle in to the track building process.

Follow his instructions and patiently ask questions and wait for replies.  Thats the way a COMMUNITY works.  Now before the thread gets to long its never too late to apologize.

Clueless you say Boston?  First of all you will need a track diagram.  This diagram will make the base outline of the track bed/road.   After that for it to be an accurate track you will need to input elevation changes, and other characteristics of the track surface.  Then you flower it up with the curbs and other scenery.  Somewhere along the line the telemetry data(s/f line, sectors) has to be added.

If you are serious post up the track map and be ready to offer the track surface's characteristics.

Then read the threads on track building.  We can work thru this together as I'm keen to accomplish some creativity in this program.

Way back when, a mystical software program was released.  It was a racing simulation program, something of the first of its kind.  It was a fantasy come true.  Its only drawback was it build for stand alone play.  No TCP/IP or IPX  capability at all.  Again this about 15 - 18 years ago.  In fact if memory serves me it was built just before the pentium explosion so it ran on w98.  Today that very same game is capable of TCP/IP connected races with fields over 8 players with or without dedicated server.  It has well over 300 tracks probably about 500.  Getting my drift yet?  Think internet of things guy.  Today software is modular.  You buckle down and do some laps.  I been around and around for a long time.

This bunch worried about legalities?  Thats a laugh!

Welllll B 12 is now history and we're cruising to the tune of B 13.  My question is who amongst us knows exactly what where & how this games netcode is deficient?  Please do not mention a comparison to other games!  I am looking for script advice strictly.  Perhaps if we could isolate that line or two in the code we could approach the game author with where to improve the code directly.
