I think the netcode improvements is key. We really need to have bigger fields with less bandwidth use. Keep up the great work Piboso.

Round 2 Pre-Final from Karting De-Joigny

Sorry but no final. I did the video but was longer than 15 mins and I lost the video when my hard drive failed. If I get some downtime, I'll post it but it's not too likely.

Off-Topic / Re: Banned from server for doing what?
October 24, 2012, 03:19:12 PM
I am currently running a server from Australia and I have been forced to boot a couple of racers because of the high ping rate causing issues. It's not something I want to do but it has been necessary a couple of times. We have been Ok in the past with pings < 300 but >300 starts to cause some issues.

It's not a great situation but maybe take it on yourself to host a race for your region. In my experience so far, with less than 9 karts, the server performs really well and there's plenty of people to help you to set it up. I'll help out as well if required.

Generation of web pages is still possible, adding
results = html
Under "export" section.

Thank you very much. Will put the info back on now.

I am probably mistaken but I don't think you need to in Beta 7.

I also notice the auto generation of the results web pages are gone. I think the original pages was too much but the entries and classification pages were great. Have to do a screenshot for each race now :(

Despite these issues, I still love your work piboso. Let me know if there's any more info or logs you may want.

Support / Dedicated Server Performance

We had our recent round of the KC1 series and with a big field 11 karts, there were multiple issues with server lag, laptiming delays and laptimes just not registering. We had restarted the server many times and with the 10+ karts, the performance was lacking and laptiming issues arose again.

I turned off the other servers running (rFactor and netkar and also turned off the murmur server)
The ping rates on the server with <8 karts was under 100 or just over and upload rate was 200-300kbps. When there was 8-9 karts, the ping rates were about 150ish and the upload rate was 700-800kbps. With more than 9 on the server, the ping rates blew out to 250 & 350 + and the upload rate was maxxed out at 800-900kbps.

The RAM usage was good at 480MB from a possible 3GB, the CPU usage with 9 people online was stable at 60-70% but the network system was  maxxing out my 1Mbps upload bandwidth.

I hope this information is usefull for you. If there's anything else I can do, please let me know

Thanks again for a great sim

Jamie

PS. Server Specs:

- P4 2.8Ghz HT 64bit
- 3Gb DDR-400 RAM
- 1Mbps upload rate
- Windows XP Pro 32 bit.

Specs look Ok but remember, Laptops are designed to be portable first and powerful second. As it heats up, it'll get slower.

Turn off the anti-aliasing, 3d grass and shadows and reflections.

Try the game on 1024x768 to start and adjust from there.

The realism-racing.com.au server is up 24/7 and is an Aussie server. It is also setup for the upcoming round, except for the temp & wind.

May possibly setup a second one for some fun but will be passworded for members to change tracks, weather and class. I will look at it in the next few weeks.
