General Discussion / Registration and login
October 06, 2012, 12:22:26 AM
Since Beta7 it is mandatory to register the license key here: http://stats.kartracing-pro.com/register.php
Then use "Nickname" to login on Kart Racing Pro.
The nickname can be changed in the "Profiles" page.

If the key is already registered, there is not need to register it again.
It is possible to change nickname here: http://stats.kartracing-pro.com/change.php
If you are already registered but you forgot your old nickname, please send an email to support@kartracing-pro.com

Plugins / Input Plugins
September 28, 2012, 10:04:27 PM
Starting from Beta7, it is possible to write a DLL that sends input data to Kart Racing Pro.

The interface can be downloaded at: http://www.kartracing-pro.com/?page=downloads

Please note that all function calls are blocking, so control should be returned to simulation as soon as possible to avoid framerate issues.

The DLL must be compiled for 64 bit.

The plugin must have the file extension renamed to DLI and it must be copied to the "plugins" directory in Kart Racing Pro installation folder.

Suggestions and wishlist / Rolling starts
September 02, 2012, 12:40:32 PM
Do you have suggestions to improve the rolling starts?
Some ideas:
1) only the leader has a max speed, the others can go any speed ( unless they overtake the leader )
2) those that go too slow ( or even stop ) don't get a time penalty or a DSQ, but must go to the back of the field

There could be a penalty if you don't stay close enough to the kart in front, but what happens if someone starts to run away like a maniac?
Also: if a kart goes too slow or stops, what should the others do? Overtake it?

The plan is also to add some info on screen, including a warning when approacing corridors.

General Discussion / Thank you
August 17, 2012, 08:38:37 PM
Somewhere around the globe someone finds the Kart Racing Pro website ( how? There is no advertisement at all! ): it looks very poor, it could be from 10 years ago; the screenshots are from old builds, the video in homepage is lame to say the least, and who is this PiBoSo, by the way? However, despite it all, this person must really like karts, and decides to try the demo...
"What? This is still a Beta software? And this unknown developer even pretends to be paid? Are you kidding me?". This is what you would expect, but no, the download starts!
The installer isn't that bad, but soon after things get really scary: double-clicking on the icon, this new demo user must face a crappy splash while waiting for the "intro" ( a pathetic replay of a single kart ) and then more wait to reach the main menu. The interface is dull, slow, texts are in English only, configuring the controller is a pain. Where is the manual? There is no manual. Even on track there is nothing fancy: no DX11, no HDR, no motion blur, no DOF.
Then, something happens. Somehow, this person decides to go back to the website and purchase a license. Only PayPal is supported, but this is not an obstacle.
What happened? What's this "spark" that makes someone support an indie project in beta stage? I call it a "miracle"  ;D
And the best part is, it happens many times a day, every single day, with no exceptions. This is amazing, this is amazing.

When you receive the email with the license key, it starts with "Thank you". I really mean it  ;)

General Discussion / CRG Mini photos
July 09, 2012, 01:51:26 PM
Is there someone who can upload photos and info about the CRG Mini New Age?
The ideal photos would be from sides and top, as flat as possible.
Also, size of each part would be useful. For example, for the steering wheel: diameter, distance from top to bottom, diameter of the grip, and so on.

Suggestions and wishlist / Tearoff
July 04, 2012, 01:01:44 PM

Is it ok to change "Tearoff" to "Visor Cleanup"?
Are visor tearoffs used in real races? It seems that in some event they are forbidden.

Track Editing / Default groove
May 08, 2012, 04:22:21 PM
There is a little feature that could be useful.

1) Open the file global.ini ( by default generated in "My Documents"/PiBoSo/Kart Racing Pro/ ) and add the following lines:
[edit]
groove=1
2) Drive several laps in testing mode on a track to create the groove ( it's possible to use groove_multiplier to generate it faster )
3) Press left ctrl + g: a file named temp.grv will be saved in the KRP installation folder
4) Rename temp.grv to track_id.grv ( for example: essay.grv - or short.grv for the short layout ) and move it to the proper track folder, with the matching TRP file
5) KRP should automatically read this grv file at track load time

General Discussion / Feedback needed
April 10, 2012, 05:09:27 PM

Can someone please give feedback about the new features in Beta6?
Is the "Wizard" to set steering wheel rotation ok?
Is the new "Free Roam" replay camera working correctly? Even with mouse-look?
Are replay cameras in general ok or do they need changes / improvements?
Are the "guide balloons" enough? Is the text clear?
Did someone notice there are tooltips on some user interface elements? Does KRP need more of them?

Documentation / global.ini
March 29, 2012, 03:22:41 PM

There are a few settings that are only available manually editing the global.ini file that is generated in "My Documents"/PiBoSo/Kart Racing Pro/ ( or, if "compatibility" is set to zero, in the Kart Racing Pro installation folder ).

Under [core] section ( must be created ):

mouse_sensitivity = 50
mouse_deadzone = 0.01
mouse_linearity = 1          ; 0 = fully linear. Increase the value to have more precision in the central part
mouse_smooth = 2            ; 0 = no smooth
to set mouse-look parameters.

replay = 20
to set the size, in megabytes, of the replay buffer. 20MB is the default value.
Warning: the bigger the buffer, the more RAM will be used.

March 03, 2012, 06:45:38 PM
With the clutch fully pressed ( no power from the engine ) and the gearbox in neutral, which are the max RPM where it is possible to engage the first gear?
any rpm ( even 15.000 )? or only at low rpm?

Suggestions and wishlist / Brake bias
January 12, 2012, 05:43:25 PM
Beta5 introduced a revised, continuous, control to change brake bias on track for the shifter karts.
Does it work better than the previous, discrete, one?

Beta5 should now be ready for release. Is there someone ( preferably using a Logitech G27 wheel ) that is available for some private testing before public release?
