Paints / Paints installation
October 28, 2011, 11:56:58 AM
To install a kart paint create, in "My Documents"/PiBoSo/Kart Racing Pro/mods/, the following folder structure:

"bodyworks\paints\fl\" for B karts
"bodyworks\paints\fl_2015\" for B 2015 karts
"bodyworks\paints\lk\" for Lotus karts
"bodyworks\paints\ms\" for MS karts
"bodyworks\paints\na\" for CRG karts
"bodyworks\paints\na_mini\" for the CRG Mini kart
"bodyworks\paints\tk\" for T karts

and copy the PNT file in the appropriate directory.

It is also possible to have a paint for a specific kart, using the following structure:
"karts\t_kf1\paints"
"karts\t_kf3\paints"
"karts\t_kz1\paints"
"karts\t_fs250\paints"
"karts\t_f100\paints"
... and so on

For the helmet and visor:
"driver\helmets\sk6\paints"
or
"driver\helmets\sk6_s\paints"
or
"driver\helmets\sk6_mini\paints"

General Discussion / Beta4 and the future
June 13, 2011, 04:52:43 PM

If there will be no unexpected problems, the next release will be the last beta.
The plan is to finalize user interface and features ( in addition to netcode improvements ), so that the "final" release will focus on bugs fix, tuning and optimizations.
So please use the "Suggestions and wishlist" forum to post as many ideas as possible.

Racing / Patch
June 02, 2011, 09:18:21 PM

Here http://www.kartracing-pro.com/downloads/beta3b/kart.exe you can download a patch.
It fixes the "Pitlane Full" error and an input calibration bug.
It is only needed by dedicated server admins and those with controls assignment problems.
Please report if it works correctly, so the full build can be updated.

General Discussion / Shift Help and "No Aids"
June 01, 2011, 08:15:22 PM

At the moment when a server is created with "No Aids" then automatic shift, traction help, brake help, best line are forced off.
Should shift help be added to the list?
113
Plugins / Proxy plugin
May 28, 2011, 06:21:02 PM
Kart Racing Pro integrates a "proxy" plugin.

Opening KRPProxyObject

g_hMapFile = OpenFileMapping(FILE_MAP_READ,FALSE,"Local\\KRPProxyObject");
void *pBuf = MapViewOfFile(g_hMapFile,FILE_MAP_READ,0,0,sizeof(SProxyData_t));

external programs can read Kart Racing Pro output data.

The source code and data structure are available here: http://www.kartracing-pro.com/downloads/krp_proxy.c
114
In the list of servers you should see a "PiBoSo Test".
If possible please join and drive on it as much as you can to help debugging.

115
Documentation / Voting
May 25, 2011, 11:50:05 AM
The poll starter' vote is set to "Yes", all the others are not set, except when on track and the poll is to start a session or reset the track, when it defaults to "No".

To change the vote, in addition to the buttons in the chat dialog and the F2/F4 keys on track, it is possible to type "!yes" or "!no" in the chat.

A poll must get at least 3/5 of "yes" votes to pass.

Spectators are allowed to vote:
- to ban a client
- to start a new session, but only in a "Waiting" session

A new poll cannot be created within a minute from the last one.
116
Documentation / Rolling start regulations
May 25, 2011, 11:09:38 AM
During a rolling start, the leader must keep a speed between 20 and 60 km/h.
The others must follow the leader at the closest distance possible. If a driver goes too slow, it must drop to the last position. If already in last position, the driver is disqualified.
It is possible to overtake, but the position must be given back before the race starts. There is a 10 seconds penalty for overtaking.
Approaching start line, all drivers must stay inside the corridors, with a speed between 30 and 50 km/h. One second penalty is given for each km/h above of below speed limits.
When the starting lights turn green, the race starts. If they remain red, drivers must remain in the corridors and then do another rolling start lap.

Note:
You can practice offline creating a race ( from main menu: race -> host local ) and then from "Event Info" page click on the arrow button on the right of "Final Length" to jump directly to race session.

Track Editing / Track author and location
May 23, 2011, 07:41:13 PM

In Beta3 "author" track info has been moved under "ui" section of INI file.
Also, support for a "location" string has been added.

118
Documentation / multi-monitor
May 23, 2011, 03:30:11 PM
Multi-monitors support is experimental, as it was not tested.
So this is a call to all the users with access to a triple-screen setup: please report if it works correctly and if changes are needed.

To enable it, open core.ini in Kart Racing Pro installation directory, and add the following lines:

[display]
monitor=0
setup=monitors.cfg

An example of a minimal cfg file with 3 identical monitors:

primary
{
screen_distance = 600
screen_width = 400
screen_height = 225
width = 420
height = 260
}

global
{
angle_x = 40
}

monitor0
{
display = 1
        pos_x = -1
res_x = 800
res_y = 600
bpp = 32
        multisample = 4
}

monitor1
{
display = 2
pos_x = 1
res_x = 800
res_y = 600
        bpp = 32
        multisample = 4
}

"screen_distance" is the distance of the eyes from the primary screen, "screen_width" and "screen_height" are the size of the screen only, while "width" and "height" include the border. All measure are in millimeters.
"angle_x" is the angle ( in degrees ) between monitors.
"pos_x" is the monitor position relative to primary one. Negative numbers mean left, positive ones right.

The full options are:

global
{
angle_x = 50
angle_y = 0
}

monitor0
{
display = 1
res_x = 800
res_y = 600
multisample = 4
bpp = 32
width = 352
height = 198
pos_x = -1
pos_y = 0
shift_x = 0
shift_y = 0
shift_z = 0
angle_x = 0
angle_y = 0
}

Please note the "angle_y" in global section and "pos_y". They allow to set vertical angle and position, where positive is up and negative down.
You can also set screen "width" and "height" for each monitor, if it doesn't match the primary one.

A maximum of 10 external monitors are supported.

NOTE:
You will have a big performance hit. However, the code will be optimized when everything is working correctly.
119

The Drivingitalia.net dedicated server gives a "Pitlane full" message when trying to connect, even if it's empty.

Could you please post the INI configuration file?
Is dedicated server installation clean?
