You are right, I support this. The torque curve should become realistic.

Track Editing / Re: Villarcayo ALPHA 3
July 04, 2011, 09:56:43 PM
Thanks for the new release, it's real fun. I like the new skid marks of ALPHA3.
In the first laps I was a bit irritated by the new hills and mountains ;).

Suggestions and wishlist / KS1 gear change in Beta4
July 04, 2011, 09:30:34 AM
I have a proposal for modifying the KS1 gear change behavior in Beta4 (all aids disabled).

- Upshift without lifting the throttle should not be possible at all. In Beta3 it's possible at max rev.
   http://forum.kartracing-pro.com/index.php?topic=873.msg4708#msg4708

- The amount of lifting the throttle for upshift should be lowered.

- The window when you can change the gear should be widened a bit. If you use a separate shifter, like Logitech G25, it's not so easy to synchronize the timing between lifting the throttle and the final click of the micro-switch. It would be nice to have some milliseconds more.

In real life it's much easier to shift, because you feel the resistance of the gearshift and it can't be moved until you release the throttle a bit. Game controllers don't offer this feature.

Here is a small diagram of the situation:

@Aritz,

at which track(s) do you have this problem?

General Discussion / GP-Bikes Tracks
June 13, 2011, 07:01:35 PM
PiBoSo, in the GP-Bikes forum you wrote, that it will be possible to use KRP tracks in GP-Bikes.
http://forum.piboso.com/viewtopic.php?p=1981#p1981

Can we use the official and user created GP-Bikes tracks too, when their Beta1 is released?
Maybe after adjusting the .rdf files?

Suggestions and wishlist / Kart Editor
June 13, 2011, 05:14:15 PM
How about a user interface like tracked and painted which allows us to create our own karts. We could create user defined engines, gearboxes and chasis. So also more exotic or historic kart classes could be modelled.
I've already the name: karted ;).

General Discussion / Piboso Linux Test
June 07, 2011, 08:07:52 PM
What happened this afternoon on this server? I got twice a CDT and each time I had to restart the pc to enter the track again.
Reconnecting or restarting KRP was not enough, I only got a black screen when I entered the track, but could hear the other karts.
Looking at other drivers with the replay live screen always went fine.
Without restarting the pc I always got funny pictures like this, a mix of two karts. ;D

Suggestions and wishlist / Telemetry wishlist
June 02, 2011, 09:25:06 AM
1.
Looking at logdata.csv and krp_proxy.c, I miss the tyre temperature, pressure and inside / middle / outside wear.

2.
For most of us the telemetry and proxy plugins are not very usefull, as long as we have no graphical interface to display the data.
We need a software, which displays the data in a usable way or a data format which can be interpreted by an existing  product.

Motec and others block the import of .csv files, they read only their own formats.

3.
With the new proxy plugin it should be possible to write a program, which displays the data in real time on the screen like in other sims (GTR2, rfactor ..).
It could also log the data for later analysis.

With the starting hot lap competitions, I think there should be taken some steps to make the system more secure.

One example - who prevents me from using a .rdf file with all checkpoints removed?

PiBoSo here's a simple proposal to prevent manipulation of tracks:

Each track has to be packed in a pkz file. A MD5-hash of the pkz has to be disposed for registering a new track.
When you drive a hot lap, KRP takes a MD5-hash of your local pkz file and transmits it with your lap time to the stats server.
Only if the MD5-hashes match your lap is valid.

Track Editing / Stop cheating hot laps
February 18, 2011, 12:51:45 PM
Please stop cheating hot laps. ;)

@all: take a look at the hot lap charts and it's obvious that more and more laps are cheated.

Lonato: look at T2 (and the slower T1). A time of 15.0 and below can only be achieved by using the shortcut.
As you have to break earlier to use it, your T1 gets worse. (3x KC1, 1x KS1)

Magescq: T1 and/or T3 cutting. (2x KC1, 2x KS1)

-------------------

@track creators: please use CHECKPOINTs in the final releases of your tracks.

What checkpoints are good for: to prevent shortcutting a corner or to say it in simple words - cheating hot laps.

To see what I mean:
Extract the Lonato track. Open it in TRACKED.EXE and view it with RACE DATA loaded. Look at the checkpoints (blue lines at the apex of most corners).

A Lonato hot lap is only valid if you have passed ALL checkpoints + SF, ST, S1 and S2.

I don't know how the penalty values work, ask PiBoSo. The rest should be obvious, if you look at the track.

At the end of LONATO.RDF you find the checkpoints.

For all tracks (except Lonato): For a valid hot lap you only have to pass SF, ST, S1 and S2. The rest of the track is not checked.

--------------------

@PiBoSo: Please explain the use of checkpoints in your Track Editor manual.
