Engine ceasing when over heated or careless with fuel amount and takes in air. The kart should lock and you can try to controll the spin wIth smoke and tyre marks

Good luck controlling it hehe....

Tuning would be fun alright, but it would be difficult to accurately do in software I would imagine. Would be nice to turn in the high jet on my carb 1/16th turn by hitting a button on my G27.

good luck with your racing and equipment! a trueely awesome start.  i need to find the start where the guy two wheels he launches so hard

look at the orange kart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCel_JvGnFA

Thanks.
Looks like that guy got hit from behind?

I was geared for 106MPH at 14,200 so more like 104 without a tow/draft. I'll check the data from the MyChron, assuming I had the time to put the correct circumference in. Other guys were hitting about 111ish with 18/22 gear. My motor wouldn't pull that gear though, if I had more time for jetting changes I probably could have pulled the 18/22, but I didnt even get out in qualifying, hence the back of the grid start.
Yeah it was close for a while alright, I glanced across the grid as I went for the gap and figured that nobody was going to move too much would have been a shame to waste a launch like that!
You got it in one with the issue. Fuel starvation and it got worse and worse as the day went on. I had to park it as it was getting dangerous and just not fair to be an unpredictable roadblock like that. I think the "T" on the fuel pipe was too close to the carb inlet. Doesn't really matter now as I have a different kart for 2012. The one in this vid is a TonyKart Mitox and a MC Motori BAT3.

Cool vid, plenty of action! Cold track, struggling for grip?
99 looked like he'd rather drive a Skyline or something than a KZ :D

Here's my holeshot: http://vimeo.com/27518042
Complete other end of the scale on gearing 18:23ish I think.
Richard, what gearing were you running there? Almost sounds shorter than some of the supernats stuff. More time off the throttle than on it!

we need a Rotory valve FSA engine dyno.  IAME make any of those?

I might have one on the way. Watch this space......

Bug reports / Re: ODE INTERNAL ERROR 1
January 16, 2012, 08:25:34 PM
Ive had this error occur about four times now.

First two were following graphics parameter changes (1xres change and 1xanisotropic filter change)
Third was the moment I tried to connect to an online server (Driving Italia)
Fourth was while I was driving. Looked to be a few marbles involved on the tire, track and a couple airbourne.

Older suggestion here for Formula A: forum.kartracing-pro.com/index.php?topic=73.0
I'll see if I can find an FSA (Formula Super A) dyno sheet. Might be hard to come by given the developmental status of the class.

I know this is an older suggestion, but its a very good one. The UI in KRP is pretty slow to respond on my PC (Debug code?), it would be awesome if I could just leave a web browser tab open to see what races are running with their status. Kinda like VROC for Grand Prix Legends, but based on a web-ui.

To go a step further perhaps the page could be mobile device friendly so you can practice by yourself for example and then when a server you want to join becomes available you can switch to that online session.

That something i never got while watching karts on TV, i raced club and national level bikes from 125cc to 1000cc i even help testing with the 500cc modenas GP bike of Kenny Roberts snr and not once did mechanic say to me block the air in take, we change maps on the 1000cc superbikes(injection) and added restrictor or differant reed valves jets needles to intake mainifold/carb, are these motors under tuned or something as that would wreck highly tuned 2/4 stroke running it lean like that unless the top and bottom are not set at optium tune, we rebuild the motors ever 700/1000 miles on the 2 strokes.Back in the days of no motor limits you set them so lean for max power that they would siezed or blow as they cross the finish line,  i only tryed the kiddy karts you get given at places like chedder gorge so im nieve to the engine tune these karts have. i understand why it done but not why it needed to be done.

Some differences between the motorcycle motors and the older karting models that might help explain.

Karts are most single gear therefore they have to operate efficiently over wide RPM range (9000-21000+)
To compensate for this they need a lot of overrev where the motor keeps pulling beyond peak power. Usually peak power is 13,500 at the latest however they will still pull all the way to 21K and beyond. Needless to say this puts the motors under extreme stress. Especially the 100cc Aircooleds making 36HP
21K RPM + shut throttle = bad. Choking can help with this
Also, fixed analogic ignition mean that the ignition is a compromise sometimes you may encounter detonation at lower RPMs, choking before the turn can help minimize this effect.

General Discussion / Re: Kart Racing Pro beta5

Actually Iv'e been having stability issues with it too. Sometimes after changing a graphics setting (resolution or anisotropic filter level) for example. Ill make some notes on when this is happening, the error message that occurs and report back. Specs on PC....

Windows 7 Professional 64Bit
Q6600
4GB RAM
Nvidia 8800GT
Logitech G27

General Discussion / Re: Kart Racing Pro beta5

Here's my 2c. I dont have a lot of time these days, so far ive just driven the KC1 and KC3 at lonato on hard tyres.....

Really enjoying this sim. The forcefeedback gives a good idea of what the kart is doing, especially when it starts to understeer/push.
The inertia still feels a little off. Sometimes the rear spins out from a tiny slide that would barely be worth correcting in RL. Seems to happen just at or beyond the apex of tighter bends. You can compensate with chassis setup settings, but then you have an understeery kart that feels a little bound up. Would be nice to get that balance on the exit of the turn where the rear end is just at its limit from the apex to the exit kerb where you can almost hold the wheel straight, David Fore style!

Overall though, again, I really enjoy driving this.

If you're gonna do it, do it right.  ICA is too low in the ranking, not worth bothering. It went like this, top to bottom: FSA, FA, ICA.
Go full-on FSA: 100cc Aircooled rotary valve, 30mm three jet slide carb, weighs next to nothing and tyres so soft the front wheels came off the ground when you siezed an engine. The FSA motors are the ones that were making 36-38, not the ICAs. ICA had restrictions imposed that limited performance.

No disrespect but if you are doing 100cc, do FSA or fuuughetaboutit! Factoring in jetting, including loading up the motor and soforth and siezures would be tough, but boy would it be fun.
