Track Editing / Re: Absolute pit coordinates

I've attached a screenshot of the track in tracked, the red arrow shows where I want the pits to go, and which way the karts need to be facing when they start.

Track Editing / Absolute pit coordinates
June 17, 2012, 02:12:34 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to place the pit starting positions on my track, but I want them going in a different direction to the centerline. I'm trying to use the 'absolute' positioning function but no matter what I enter, the 'X', 'Z', 'spacing' and 'columns' boxes have no effect what so ever on the pit positions - they just stay stuck to the centerline. Only the 'angle' box actually does as it should. Am I missing something or is this a bug that needs fixing?

Will there be any more work on this in the future? It would be an awesome feature if we could use it!

I'm down at Forest Edge later in the year for the Club100 round there. It's not on the wishlist of tracks for the moment as we're focusing on Super 1 and FKS venues, but I will be getting pictures as it could be one we might want on the sim in the future...

Yes - at the moment we have Kimbolton and the new PFI both finished. We also have Ellough Park and Glan Y Gors finished but with no buildings or scenery. I'm also working on Larkhall at the moment and Nutts Corner is the next on the list (I was there last weekend getting pictures). As you can tell I've been quite busy!

Of course, it's worth remembering that if iZone weren't paying me none of those tracks would have been made in the first place as I have to drive or fly to all the tracks and have permission to take pictures.

Glad to hear you liked Whilton. That was my first KRP track and I've learned as thing or two since I made it!

Whilton and PFI seem to be the worst for the kerb problem and as a temporary fix I've had to lower the kerbs on both tracks.

Of course. We don't own the rights to the track, it's just that my version of it won't be publicly released.

I get a different kart every race!

Hi Evo,

I assume you are referring to iZone and my tracks with your post.

I started off creating tracks for rFactor just like most people in the modding community, however I was lucky enough to be picked up by Buckmore very early on and have them pay me for my work. One thing led to another and now I'm working for iZone. The difference is that while Buckmore were happy for me to share my work, iZone aren't as they are a new company, and having a library of realistic tracks which are not available anywhere else is extremely valuable to them.

The fact is that if anyone else here was given that opportunity (and it is a huge opportunity for me - not just to earn money, but as a student studying motorsport at university it is a foot in the door and a chance to meet important people in the motorsport world) I'm sure they would have grabbed it with both hands just like I did.

Don't be put off by the fact that my tracks aren't available as there are a hell of a lot of talented people in this community already (don't think I don't look around at the competition!) who do create tracks for free. Frankly, if I wasn't being paid then none of the tracks I've made would exist anyway, so I don't see it as a big deal.

We do advertise KRP on the simulator. All of our drivers see the menu screens and loading screens etc when they use the simulator and we don't try to hide the fact that we run KRP. Other than the odd small bug here and there, we are all very impressed with KRP and think it's the best (in fact the only) viable option. I wasn't aware that we had to ask permission to use the software, but I have emailed PiBoSo previously so he does know that we are using KRP. I don't know if iZone asked permission themselves previously - I wasn't given a huge amount of information when I first started working for them.

Obviously we would never try to rebrand or resell KRP - it is only used in our sim room.

You're right it is Whilton. Sorry to disappoint but it won't be released to the public - the track was created for iZone. I would love to release it publicly, but if I did that it would allow any of our rivals to use it as well, which is obviously not good for business.

I only used it for the video as it has a lot of high kerbs which best demonstrate the problems we've been having.

Bug reports / Kerbs

Hi,

Not really a bug, more of a general issue, but I think the way that the karts react over kerbs really needs to be looked at for the next beta:

Karts shouldn't just roll like that, even over high kerbs.

Sorry for the delayed response.

I've tried adding more subdivisions as you suggested, but even with twice the amount, the juddering is exactly the same (not even reduced)

The corner in question does have quite a lot of elevation change, but still this shouldn't happen:

Ok I will. I'll post back here and let you know if it's better.

Just to clarify, the SHD file should be in the track directory, along with the spec texture? It's not very clear in the guide.
