I've been testing shader these days and they are a must for track creators.

Specular gives a very nice bright where the sun (light) hits. Very easy to do with a simple texture

Bump makes the surfaces more real with the non perfect surfaces. You need a program to do them or you can do the bump texture with photoshop quite easiliy

Reflections... I can't do them, but glass or polished metals should have this. Help needed!


This screenshot is taken after the bump and specular shaders activated. Bump for the "grass" and tarmac, and specular for the buildings, tyres (covered with plastic) and fences:



But my asphalt is very ugly :( The bump is very big, not real.... How can I do the nice Piboso's bumped texture?

We need some kind of file with race and qualify results (including best lap, penalties, etc) to organize races and championships. This file should be downloadable from stats website or somewhere.

Hi everyone

Next week I have my first (and probably last) race of the year on Magescq and I am a light pilot, so I have to add 20kg to my KZ2 kart (178kg minimum weight)
I still have oversteering and my question is:

Do I have to add the weight in the back of the seat to make the kart heavier in the rear to have less oversteering or this will do the kart harder to drive because of the inertia of the rear part?

We learn a lot doing this track, so the next will be better  8)

Iceman asked me about Maxxis SLR. I think they are medium hard type of tyres but quite expensive. Vega XH are faster and cheaper for example. The good think of these tyres is their stability, their grip is almost the same until their end.

I liked the most Vega FH; long duration, not so fast but quite good and cheap.

Your choices?

I have been testing the rubbering of the track on Magescq.

First I use 20x multiplier and in two laps the track is clearly rubbered. Then I use 10x, 3 laps is enough to see differences. With 5x, 4-6 laps and the track has visible black lines.

But online (1x) I was not able to see those lines, even after 35 laps... In real world 35 laps is nothing, so in fact it has to be that way but Schwoni told me that even with 200 laps in his track, he was not able to see rubber at all. Perhaps his track is not working

Mi question is: Is the dynamic surface changed from beta4 to more real, slower rubbering?

Today I played and I realised that my KS1 has again its RPM limiter... I couldn't believe what was happening and I did a new clean installation. After that, the RPM limiter was off again and my engine blowed up when I pushed the throttle to the metal.
Other usual problems when you have a not clean installation like bad setup and uncontrollable kart or missing textures or whatever, were not. So the only changes were the limiter and the problem for other people to enter on my server. After the clean installation, people can enter on my server.

Of course I did not do any change on the game and the only new stuff on my computer is the Internet Explorer 9 (IE 8 before). Could be IE the problem?

These are the new (again) Magescq and Magescq Historic tracks. They are the same tracks of course but updated for the Piboso's last Beta fixes (this is the last version)

Now the dynamic rubbering is visual and the FPS drop bug is hopefully fixed. Let me know if it is not!

I want to help with this :)

I am not an engine expert but I know 2 stroke engines quite well. First R/C world, now Karting.

We are used to our cars and those have RPM limiter but 2 strokes without electronics, are very simple. They reach their maximum RPM without electronic limiter. This limit is the carburation; rich=low RPM (too much gasoline), lean=high RPM first then drop (nothing to burn) and the correct mixture; the maximum RPM possible (in KZ aprox 14000)
They don't need any limiter, the limiters in 2stroke are for the engine best life (more RPM, less life) or for different power with same engine in KF class; 14000 (KF3) 16000 (KF2)

By the way, this could be a new feature for the game, choose the carburation by yourself! You want the best power? Take a risk and carburate it extreme. You want more security? Don't take the risk and carburate it 200-300 RPM lower than the maximum. And game may use a random blow ups for the engines; more risk=more probabilites but more power (1-2hp, never more), less risk=less options but less power

When you do a slow split, let's say 50,67seconds, the number appears wrong, outside its place.

"Delta time" is not in the correct place I think. This the better capture I could do of the real Unipro, is not clear but you can see the place:

We think we have the connect to the servers problem found:

You have to open ONLY UDP ports, not "both" (UDP and TCP)

Sorry Piboso, you have the information clear on "Network ports thread" and we didn't follow it...  :-[
