Plugins / AndroidDash
July 21, 2013, 09:41:34 PM
Android device and WiFi Network is required to run application. I know this significantly reduces size of target group but as we are in biggest PiBoSo community I hope there will be couple people wanting to help.

This release is simply supposed to check if project work on different types of machines without any issues. Also any feedback regarding installation process would be appreciated.

Description:
AndroidDash consist of game plugin and android device application. It uses WiFi network to send telemetry data to simple dash displayed over phone screen.

Installation:
1. Download and unpack files.
2. Move 'AndroidDash.dlo' and 'AndroidDash.ini' to 'plugins' folder located inside your Kart Racing Pro installation directory.
3. Install 'AndroidDash.apk'. Probably easiest way is to send program to your gmail account. Using your phone you can open message and use 'install' button.
- It may be required to enable option allowing you to install applications from outside android market
- Application will use port 5000 (for now hardcoded)
4. Start program and press 'get device IP' button (remember to have your phone connected to network).
5. Write assigned IP of your phone in 'AndroidDash.ini' file.
6. Start game and go to track (plugin will send packets only when vehicle is on track).
7. Press 'Start listener' button. If everything works layout buttons should become active.

This is how both dash layouts should look like:

Styled after formula renault 2.0 display layout shows basic vehicle information like: RPM, speed, gear, fuel left and temperatures. There is also LiveSplit that shows difference to your best lap on any point on track.

This layout shows previous lap and sector times. Also it displays difference to best sector and lap time.

Lap graph can store information about 40 entries allowing you to analyze pace of previous laps and sectors. Graph can also display used setup names so it's possible to check how particular setup affected your times.

Big thanks to dibu for help in initial testing and bug fixing.

Plugins / Advanced HUD
April 07, 2013, 12:35:32 PM
Download:
http://www.sendspace.pl/file/eefea179c7e300618adf6d0

Installation:
Unpack archive then move files (".dlo", ".ini" and "data" folder) into "plugins" folder located inside your "Kart Racing Pro" installation.

Usage:
When on track press F2 key to activate plugin menu. It will allow you to enable or disable particular window or move it to different position with created mouse cursor. After configuring HUD according to your preferences press F2 again. Window placement is saved separately for each kart.

Plugin creates display over your game screen that allows to show more information about your lap times. Main elements of display include sector and lap times, difference to best sector time, track map, fuel level and live split. Live split is similar to racing with "ghost". It shows time difference to your best lap time at any point on track.

Some of plugin elements require additional configuration. It is indicated by additional submenu placed on the right side of main menu. For gear change indicator submenu configures RPM threshold.

This program is ported version of World Racing Series Advanced HUD plugin.

General Discussion / Documentation board

Great idea! Now newcomers can have sort of quick FAQ without need to look all over site.
Maybe we could propose couple things?

I think at the beginning a lot of people are asking for track and paints installation (and i'm guessing a lot of people don't know about tons of community tracks).
I think also not everybody notices game stats page (which results in questions about best lap on specific track).
Also maybe info that laps are registered only online.
There is also sometimes confusion that complete game re installation requires also deleting folder in my documents (maybe not that necessary because game will be soon out of beta).

Racing / Rain race anyone?
May 20, 2012, 11:33:46 PM
It's quite hard to find race in KRP. But i would say it's almost impossible to find someone willing to race in wet. It maybe because jumping into wet track without practice is difficult or maybe i just didn't look hard enough. I don't want to create anything like league just thread where people willing to race can organize themselves. I think simplest way is posting let say 2 days before race, that someone have time and want to race that day. In race day someone can create server and race (i think i could host 4-5 karts)! That way there is time for training and we should get fields bigger than 1 kart.
Also there is much more variety than in dry conditions:
dry to wet (dry track with rain)- this is a bit tricky because transition is a bit choppy (at least on my PC) but in longer races this would be a blast.
wet to dry (wet track no rain) - again with longer practice or qual session it would nicely change track with dry patches in some corners.
wet (wet track and rain) - even in this conditions with couple karts its possible to create short dry lines around track.
We can also specify wind speed, kart type (i would go with KC1 because it have power to spin wheels) and temperature (again colder more fun).
