General Discussion / Re: Why can't do a full race?
August 08, 2018, 08:06:55 PM
I see the ranking system in krp is very correct in the way it ranks the drivers. It collects how many races you've finished and position. And the bad news is there are very few people that did finished a race. Btw Cory you have no races finished, i guess league or group races are also recorded, so i don't see where are those group races!? I really like krp and enjoy everytime i do battles in there and usually other drivers like doing battles with me, maybe cause of consistency and cause the battles last some laps, (especially Ruben nabi haha, sorry for pointing your name Ruben). Actually now that i think it might be better that people that host a server put the ranking criteria too so drivers be more responsible to not loose ranking and finish the race. Maybe will start just by hosting one myself with the c ranking as criteria. At this moment there's only 1 or 2 drivers that have ranking, so maybe it's a good point to start for the good of krp and kart racing. As its very bad that a very good sim like krp don't have some good races and leagues.

Cory, it was mostly to note the problems on public servers and to avoid and have fun as much as possible. I know in closed groups it can be better but still a problem and there's not much groups. And although those are just public servers it doesn't mean to do ping pong. Maybe the ones i drove with are not the best and no one knows who's the best in krp as there's no ranking at all, but I did race Usually with you if you remember, ruben, gonzalo, kasper, end others, i am not saying those are the guys who crashed as they're really good. And mostly my post was not for very good guys as they now how to race it is mostly for new guys that wonders how to do good races in krp, and note some elementary things so we can have more fun, cause in the end everybody that comes to a public server comes to race and these was some points. As for the leagues and groups not easy to find.

There is a ranking system but its just not very effective. ( Well the online isn't full enough to make it effective )
What is your in game name?

My name in game is Pensionisti

General Discussion / Why can't do a full race?

I am just going in some key points for drivers in krp servers cause it's impossible to do a race, as most of the time crash in first corner or just can't even rolling start at all.

1. Practice, practice, practice.
First everybody before going for a race should know very well the track and the car, you can't just enter e server and race. To do so you need to practice a lot, and that's the only way you can avoid crashes and be competitive and last a race of 10-20 laps. Otherwise you'll crash someone or yourself and just finish far behind from first lap and than deliberately disconnect.

2.consistency
The race is not a hotlap or just one good lap and you win, the race is being consistent and not crashing through all the race long. There's nothing good on doing like crazy just from the start and in first corner and ruin everything and never finish a race. I tried a lot times and with the best drivers in krp but never managed to do a full race, in most cases crash from the first corner. Please doing a race means finishing it, so no point to overdrive and do a good lap and than go out for a bit and loose more than you could win in 10 laps. and if you're fast and consistent you will win anyway no need to overdrive, if you don't finish the race it doesn't matter if you're fast or not.

3. Leaving room, and passing right.
Yeah, there's no point of defending very hard a corner if someone taken the inside or blocking someone, in most cases you will both go out and ruin everything. If someone taken the inside or you're not sure, you can leave a some space or just keep the line and don't move too much to avoid collision. No one is so fast to resist a sudden move and in sim racing it is impossible, so please follow racing lines and don't move left right like crazy. Also if you're not sure don't go for an overtake make sure the other driver can see you before going for an overtake.

4. Restarting the race
That's a very stupid thing and doesn't help anyone. It doesn't help good driver for doing their races and win some of them or doing some battles, and also doesn't help new drivers learn that a race is mater of finishing it and being careful. So restarting a race just cause someone crashed is stupid.

There's a lot more but for me these are crucial and should be known if we want to finish some races and do some good races, if you see the statistics ranking system you will see that also the best driver have no ranking, that's cause no one has finished a race to be ranked. There's only some 2 people races finished.
I wrote all this cause i think we should all be responsible for our driving so we can have good races and have fun all together. Otherwise it will continue like we are now where we can2even regularly start a race.

Yes Thank you, That's exactly what i did. changed the isp and got my server "GoKart GoHard" running and at a great ping. so for everybody else please check your routers "external IP" to match with your "public IP", you can find your public IP by typing what's my IP on google. if not, you are living in a LAN and your isp should forward you the port or you should change the isp. For the ports i use 54421, and 10611, others work as well but make sure to make your servers IP static so it doesn't change and forward the port to your IP. You should put the same port on all 4 fields on the router where it says "internal port" and "external port", or "WAN port" and "LAN port" just put the same on both.

Happy Racing!

Hello

finally found where was the problem. the problem was on my ISP cause they're not giving me a public IP directly but giving me access through a WAN.
i noticed it cause my routers external ip was 10.x.x.x  while my public ip shows as 109.x.x.x . so the port forwarding should be done in the ISP routers witch is not possible. but strange is that i could play with my friends in the release2b through the host world option and can't now in release3.

thank you dibu for all your help
It looks there is something more behind this we don't know yet. i did tried also setting my router in bridge mode witch gives me ip directly from my ISP it still doesn't work. did tried also to make the server through mobile hotspot but still the same on both my machines. firewall was kept turned off all the time when i make this tests. it can't be an app preventing the connection cause the machine has a brand new windows and turned off firewall. waiting reply from piboso or someone who knows anything extra about this

it doesn't seem to work for no reason, whatever i do the server can't be reached.
the game is not blocked by firewall as i have allowed for both private and public networks, and i can join other servers and play.

i have played some time with host world in release2b but in release3 i can't anymore even when host world, it says connection timeout.

ok, just figured the reason why it tries to connect on the wrong port, was cause of the shortcut link being "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kart Racing Pro\kart.exe" -dedicated 54411 -set params newserver.ini and not just kart.exe" -dedicated 54411 -set params newserver.ini

although it is the same shortcut it corrects the port number on "join" link, but i'm still getting "connection timeout"

please see as i edited the reply above as i see when i hover on the join link it shows it is starting in 54400 while my server is set in 54411 not sure why
this is the shortcut link "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kart Racing Pro\kart.exe" -dedicated 54411 -set params newserver.ini"

thanks for the reply that what was thinking too about the ports but doesn't look to work,
the server is quick race at genk you can check it out

forwarded port 54411 to the server machine and not messing with other machine for the moment as i am connecting it from mobile hotspot just to try

it says connection timeout and i can see the pings of other servers but not of my server, it shows ---

please try to connect, i set also the ping to no limit

thank you

edit: i just checked the servers page on krp web and when i hover to the join link it shows it is trying to connect on 54400 port although i have set the server to 54411, this is the shortcut link "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kart Racing Pro\kart.exe" -dedicated 54411 -set params newserver.ini"

ok but there still something missing, i do forward the 54411 to the machine where i open the server in the 54411 port and it doesn't work. i do forward all of those ports to the machine where i am opening the server, cause don't want to mess with running the game in same machine yet but it still doesn't work. opened also the 53 tcp port for the dns still nothing.

Hello

can please anyone explain in detail the ports and dedicated server thing. whatever i do i get connection timeout. i see there dedicated servers that has 2-3 players but when i try to join it says connection timeout in some other i can join. very frustrating as there no info of what is the reason.

1. In my router should i forward the same ports of the game to my local ip, or use a different, and if it should different which ports are suggested?

2. in my router and guess in general there are external ad internal ports should they be the same?

3. Does the game needs only the 2 ports 54400 and 54410 or is it a range from 54400 to 54410 as my router asks me to forward a range of ports?

4. is there a difference if the server is in the same machine where the game is running?

please someone explain as good as possible as i think everybody needs it, right now we are forced to play on drivingitalia.net servers only?

Thank you!
