Newbie here. I'm still doing my due diligence. I'm not into video games, but I am into karting. I was talking to a couple of drivers at a race last weekend. Both swore that racing sims is helpful. Help Satisfy the skeptic in me. I'm a racer and looking for any advantage. I'm still new to kart racing (1 year).

If you don't mind, please explain to me how KRP has helped or does not help your real world karting.

I just don't want to spend a lot of time or money for something that is not going to help me race real karts. I'll probably order a wheel anyway this week and give it a go.

Setups / Learning how to set up a real kart

Newbie here. I just downloaded KRP. My main objective of using this program is as a training tool to improve my actual real world karting.

Is my thinking rational and justified? Can this program help me? I have about one year experience in racing karts at the club level. I can turn consistent lap times. I'm a "middle of the packer". I don't really understand the tuning aspect.

Generally my (real/actual) kart is left in a neutral setup.

Can this program help me learn by giving me simulated feedback on adjusting a kart? This way I can start experimenting to understand how the kart will react to changes that I make in the setup?

Can I realistically expect to get a real understanding?

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm early fifties. Not really into video games. Computer geek. I enjoy tech, programming, and karting. I listened to some fellow karters talking about sim racing and I thought I would give it a try. I run a couple of mac pros. I'm typing this as I download the demo. If this game as good as people say it is, this could be one more addictive hobby. I can't get out to the track as much as I like and this may be just as good??? Anyway, I may have questions ... I have a spare pc. I plan on testing with a steering console with pedals. If it is as good as I'm hoping, I may even spring for a nice setup to put in a bedroom I'm not even using.

Hopefully I'll see you on the track. I race at NOLA. The rotax worlds is being held there. So if I get into this, maybe I'll take the time to build the track ...
