What is the practical benefit of this?

I developed this to be able to compare laps and see difference between setup's etc. It also help me understand what I'm doing right when I set a quick lap.

In the longer perspective my intention was that you should be able to upload your best laps and then be able to compare your best laps with the best laps of others. In other sim racing platforms that have this type of functionality it has helped me allot to understand what I need to improve.

I have uploaded a new version that has several improvements to http://www.lautrup.se/KaRTA/

Improvements are easier to select laps that should be shown, possibility to re-order graphs and some visual stuff

Changes:
Colors of graphs to improve readability
New way of selecting laps to make it easier
Several minor changes!

Track Editing / Lockarp
February 12, 2012, 09:20:37 AM
I have a version of the Lockarp (Malmö, Sweden) kart track that I build for rFactor. I have converted the track to KRP but in KRP there is a couple of bumps in the track that destroys the feeling of the track and with my limited knowledge of 3D Studio I have not managed to sort them out.

You can view a video of the track in rFactor on this link

If some one could help me out with the bumps in the track we could add another track to the already good list of tracks to KRP.

The beta of the track is found here

And the max file is found here

Thanks for the feedback I will have a look at them and see what can be done to enhance it.

Some of the things you ask for is already possible (but not intuitive)

All graphs are zoomable so if you click and drag in a  graph you can zoom in and then reset back.

I probably will change this but it is possible to hide laps today, if you click the series in the graph (for example lap0) that lap will be hidden and if you click again it will be shown again.

I have updated to a new version that should work better.

I have seen this error before. I use the HTML5 file api and that will not work if the code is loaded locally for security reasons.

Is it so that you are running some type of local proxy that could cause this problem?

The tool is build in JavaScript so all is executed in the browser. I have only tested the tool using Chrome (limited testing with IE9 and that worked) so it could be a browser problem.

I have not done extensive  testing of diffrent tracks and sizes of files so it would be good to get access to some files for testing so if you have some good files please send them to fredrik.lautrup at gmail.com .

I've created a tool to analyse the telemetry data generated from Kart Raing Pro.

You can find the tool on http://www.lautrup.se/KaRTA/

This is the first release and I have only tested the tool using a limited number of files (I attach a test file to this message). So please have patiens if not all is working as intended.

If you have ideas on improvements please let me know, and I will perhaps do it in my limited spare time (or feal free to enhance your self you find the project at https://github.com/flautrup/KaRTA)

Thanks for the advice this helped allot, but I still have some height problems in the track  :( that I need to even out along a stretch of track. I tried doing it with soft selections editing the polys, is this the best thing or are there any other way that is better. I do not have a spline/path to move as the track is not created in 3ds max from the beginning.

Track Editing / How to smooth track surface in 3DS MAX
February 23, 2011, 10:22:58 PM
I'm converting a track from the southern part of Sweden. The track works good in rfactor but when I converted it to KRP the track surface becomes bumpy at places. Do anyone have any tips on how to smooth the track surface in 3ds max? I'm new to 3ds max so any suggestions is appreciated ;)

You can view a video of the track in rfactor here:

Realy good with a detailed walkthrough of the conversion process. Is there anyone out there that use 3DSimED that would know if this tool could simplify the process? And if so could give a hint of what to use 3DSimEd for?
