Maybe Sam suggests that bumps should be embedded in the surface type not from the polys.

I also get freezes sometimes in the testing mode, but never in the online one.

...cause I can't since I tried to upload a pic.
If not, this is what I wrote...

Hi, talented modders and trackbuilding artists, I dare you for this challenge!  :D

I posted a question a few weeks ago about building a track for KRP to which I had good access, the owners were nice enough to give me a few hours to take all the pics and measurements I wanted.

So, I got the pictures, and some measurements of track surface. Unfortunately I could not take general elevation measures, I did not have surveyor tools. The track elevation is very discrete, maximum half a meter between the lowest and the highest point, but when you are there around the track, the elevation and inclination is visible. Not sure it will be on a coputer screen, even if replicated perfectly.

The track is very new, high quality grippy tarmac, with nice sweeping turns and bends. I realize how important laser scanning should be for elevation and track inclinations, it makes a huge difference. I just hope the game physics is sensitive to the 0.5-1.5 degree angle changes.

There are no trees arpound, but there is some high grass close to the track, curious how could that be brought into KRP. There a high mountains at the horizon.

This is my call to you, I would be very happy if somebody will be interested to invest his time into making a Piboso quality replica of the track. ;)

I'm not just asking for the effort and lay on my back, I will provide all the pics, (approx 2 gb), and I'm willing to help as much as I can with textures, and in 3DS Max, with a bit of guidance.

Why don't I just shut up and do it all by myself? Cause it would take me a lifetime to learn 3DS Max at such a pro level, for the track to come out exquisite, and it would be a pity not doing it faster and better.

Attached a pano I made from the building's balcony.

All the best!

Makes sense all of what you're saying.  So, is the track shape appealing at all to invest your(or any track developers) time for it, or unless it's famous, shouldn't bother.

Hello everybody,

If (hypothetically) I would be able to get access to a local track to collect the necessary data to build an accurate replica of the track, what and how exactly would that be? Does somebody have experience with that?

Pictures of track surface( tarmac, curbs, grass) environment(surroundings and buildings), etc? How should those pics be taken to be most useful? Can they be used for texturing?

On kart video would be needed too?

So, I am not a track builder, but I would be willing to try to get the information needed. Somebody else would have to create it.  ::)

It is a lovely new track, following CIK-FIA regulations, it has a nice high speed parabolic turn with inclination. (track shape attached)

Hello,

I receive a "failed to login" message when trying to enter the World servers. Is there a  problem? Locally the Beta 8 seems to be unlocked though.

Thanks

General Discussion / Can't see the wet track "wet"
January 29, 2012, 08:26:19 PM
Hello everybody,

This is my first post on the forum, although I have the game for a while now.

In the wet weather, all the sideroads are nice and reflective, while the main track is light gray as in dry conditions (although the splash effect from the wheels is there). Is there something I should change in the settings?

Thanks alot.

Andy

Hi,

First of all hello to everybody, I have the game for a while, but haven't joined the forums until now.

Can somebody help me out with seeing the wet track properly? All the sideroads are nice and reflective "with ponds", but the main track remains light gray like in the dry weather. Is this a graphics setup issue or smth else?

Thanks.

Andy
