Just had a look at the track with mapview, there are definately some bugs left ;)

(http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/7549/bugsf.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/838/bugsf.jpg/)

BTW, I have the one with the starting light too at a track i convert. I think the solution will be removing the alpha channel from the front texture.

No problem, you're welcome. Just tried it myself, these are the correct textures ;)

What program did you use to change the textures?? photoshop??

Yes, just removed the alpha channel with photoshop. Didn't work in gimp somehow, as it removed everything but the red/green light...

What do you mean??
Just a black screen??

@Hansen24

Thanks for the nice track, it's fun to drive. :)

I just saw that no time for T2 is displayed, because your split 1 and the S/F line are at the same point.

Also the virtual S/F is set about 15m behind the S/F, which is painted on the track. This is a bit irritating when you drive.

No not a black screen. When I want to drive nothing happened and the game stays in the overview of the laptimes. I wait 2 minutes. Then I return to my desktop without leaving the game, there is a small box which say that kart.exe doesn't work.

Thats odd.. i assume you have downloaded the updated track (I dont think it has a something to say)
I have just tried downloading the updated version to see if it was the right version (which it is) and i didnt get that problem...

I downloaded the updated track. But I found something weird. The file I download is a pkz, that's what mediafire said, but when I download it I get a zip file. I unpacked the zip and add it to the game. I also changed the zip into a pkz, and add it to the game again. But I had still the same. I can see it ingame, but when I want to drive it doesn't work.

This doesn't work too. I don't know why, everything looks normal, I can see everything ingame, pictures, names etc, but when I want to go to the track it doesn't work. If I want to watch the replay I have the same, so it's only when I go to the track.

If you redo it, also make a new centerline and close it at the end, before merging it. At the moment your centerline is not closed which can result in problems.

It's not possible to set a time in the online statistics.

After you registered your track you set a time with KC3. That's ok so far. But when I look at your splits, this lap seems to be done with the old version, where you had the T2 problem.

When I drive a lap with the updated version, it doesn't record the lap. That's because the fingerprint of the race data stored at the server is different from the new version.

You have to reregister the track and drive a new online lap with the updated track version.

KZ2: 50.448

eheh a system for prevent the cutting, sometimes when hit the grass is like a wall , by the way, is there a system that don't count the lap if it is cutted?

I know that there is a problem with the grass as it is so stepp that you can get "caught" if you dont got enough speed from going from the gras onto the track again

yes, anyway i have always solved pushing the kart forward/back, at the end i could go out of the "hole", but it is not nice to have that

yes i think so, you need the original files for to manage it with BTB, or something like that, conversions from RF have this issue

you can move any part of your track in 3ds max if you right click convert to mesh use vertex select move tool move to position, you can select a number of them by holding ctrl, when they turn red you can right click then click move transform offset world, this will give a better possition.

going of course in a kart should be punished, since the game doesnt have a damage engine for simulating failures, i think the surface height diffrences should stay. Checkpoints will prevent corner cutting.  The only thing id like is shadows on track. it only shows on grass or other surfaces.

Pibosso told schwoni when he was developing Bueren
"Removing alpha channel from the asphalt texture you should get shadows on track."

Roskilde has three wide curbs (at turn1 and at the two 180° turns in the infield).
Is it ok to use them as part of the racing line or is corner cutting?

I'm not sure about it. When I look at the checkpoints it seems to be ok. Two curbs are not checked and at the other one  the whole curb is included in the checkpoint.

Before driving new hotlaps, I want to be sure. In my fastest laps I used the curb at turn1 (all other corners should be clean). Here is the link to a replay of my 51.796 with KC3.

Producing a track is very difficult as i am now learning.  If you get photoshop just goto layers on the right next to its channels then right click on alpha channel and delte.  This is easy making the track is hard.  Great job Hansen24.  Hope to see more tracks. And i hope you dobnt mind me asking for help

well done, here you can make better  ;) it is also an easy turn playing with throttle and brake we can point well the kart. what final ratio do you use? i have 13/84 118km.h

Title: Re: Roskilde Karting Track
Post by: dibu on August 07, 2011, 08:29:47 AM
I know that my KC3 laps can be optimized ;). My final ratio was 12/78 117km/h, the setup of this lap is attached. My KS1 lap was way better, but same style - I used the curb at turn1, everything else clean. Unfortunately I didn't save a replay of my best KS1 lap.

But back to my question. Should the wide curbs be part of the track or not? Roskilde is special, because other tracks don't offer this opportunity.
I looked for onboard videos of Roskilde to see the real lines, but it seems that these wide curbs don't exist in reality.

I want my own laps in the stats to be clean, but I also don't want to have a disadvantage by driving a unnecessary wide line. That's why I want to clear this point now.

If the usage of these curbs is not ok, Hansen24 should adapt the checkpoints to exclude them.

This track still doesn't work for me, aswell as the new La Conca. Today we tried the last things which we could think might be the problem.

Today I installed krp on my new clean laptop and tried Rosklide, but it doesn't work on that aswell. Schwoni tried my activation key and I his. That doesn't help. We also tried all files and changed them. I also did the centerlines again. But nothing helped, and now we are out of ideas what the problem might be.

Piboso, can you help us finding the problem?
