Title: [Release] Toowoomba Kart Club (AUS)
Post by: Ryan Harris on July 15, 2011, 10:38:43 AM
FINAL DOWNLOAD: http://www1.zippyshare.com/v/45560628/file.html

Hey, I am an Australian Karter (QLD) and this is my home track. I have been working on the track in Bobs Track Builder for about a week and a half now and honestly all i wanted was to have my home track to race on. It is about 80% done, some of the textures like pit lane and curbs are not the best but i just want to be able to have my home town track in the game.

But when im done, i will need for someone who is willing to take a little bit of time to convert the track into 3ds Max, seeing as i do not own the program. Not many textures have been used in this track as all i want is it to be half decent so it shouldnt take too long (hopefully) :D

This is my first track so hopefully it wont be too bad :D
I will soon post some pictures of the track

Here is the track on this Youtube Clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2sZWgfsIdY&feature=related

Nice track

You have to think about the mix of the real google photo with the grass. Is not easy to do it in 3dmax...Even if in BTB is possible, when you do the conversion, the mixed textures will disappear... You will have only the grass ;) I know is possible to do, but you have to master the program, I tried some things with Magescq and I wasn't able to do it :(

Hmm Ok Aritz, well that is a little unfortunate... Maybe if possible, once i have all the objects placed down, insted of useing background image, use the other blend tool, it may even look better then before :D haveing the background image was just for me to see where to place all my objects etc. ill see how it goes :D

Have you already converted it?
If not, for uploading BTB projects you have to choose the whole directory in /Program Files/BTB/My Projects...It's probably really large, it includes all objects, textures and xpacks you used, even modifications you made to textures etc.

With this guide (http://forum.kartracing-pro.com/index.php?topic=196.0), conversion is not really a big deal, it just takes some time. You could try it yourself if you haven't already :)

Well, I imported the track in 3Ds Max and it looks very good so far. You really seem to know what you're doin' ;) I definetaly will convert the track, but it will take some time - not sure about how much free time I will have the next days.

There are some issues left:

- Three objects have no textures. I converted every picture format to tga, but those are left. Please check them in BTB, maybe you find the bug and reupload, or you find the textures in the xpack and upload them plus some screenshots of the objects in BTB (so I can tell which texture to put where).

- The trees you used seem very detailed. However, as KRP only displays the front side of the textures, there may be some invisible parts. They are too detailed to flip every texture for me, I would only do this to the most inappropriate parts.

- I'm not quite sure of the size of the track, it seems a bit big to me. Did you use kart track scale? There is a way to resize the whole track in the end if necessary, just wanted to know...

- I can see starting lights textures, but I can't find the starting light model. Could you show me where it is? Or are there just the textures?

- Terrain textures look good, I think. I won't do any mix with any background image, but I think it still looks fine :)

Anyways, great work man!

with the missing texturen, please check if they are in ´dds format this should work fine.
@Nitrox: maybe this missing textures are in jpg convert them to tga and put them to the right object, should be possible because this are only 3 ;)
Title: Re: Toowoomba Kart Club WIP (AUS)
Post by: Nitrox on July 18, 2011, 10:33:26 PM
I made this mistake with my own track, this time I converted every picture to tga (dds, jpg, bmp, png,...). So I think they should be there, but they are not :)

It is sad, that it takes him so long to finish it. I converted this track for him, so I know that only race data etc. is missing to complete it, while it is fully drivable yet. And yes, it is fun to drive ;)

Hope you'll finish soon or let someone else do it! :)

Any news?

Nitrox, did you convert it for him? If yes, you can do race data etc. aswell then? That should be the least work.

This track looks really good. Come on guys you can do it.

There is already another user who wants to finish it and told me he will ask the creator for permission. However, I didn't receive any answer by now. I wrote a PM to the creator and, if I get the permission, will finish it during the first week of the new year. Maybe I can implement wet texture, new tire marks etc. We will see :)

Hey guys. I am VERY sorry to not get back to you about my project, All the work that i have put into this track has gone missing so Nitrox will finish the project under my permission. I honestly am very sorry to leave you guys hanging. I have been very busy and pushed for time and I think the best possible thing to do is let Nitrox take over. Plus i was not the greatest when it came to using TrackED. Hope you enjoy my track and have fun. :D Sorry.

Ryan.

Hey there,

this is the first beta version of Toowoomba Kart Club track!

It is not complete yet and there are some things to do. Things that will be done:

- add bestline
- add shaders for kerbs, pit, etc.
- add puddles and adjust look with different weather conditions
- add start/finish line

However, the biggest problem I have is a loss of FFB after some laps. During testing, it seemed that it will loose FFB sooner, if a higher groove/wet multiplier is set, but this could be a coincidence. Please report back, if you have FFB loss too!

Suggestions and bug list is welcome! I can do everything that can be done easily via 3Ds and tracktools.

I hope a solution for FFB problem will be found.

Further, please report if you experience any frame drops or bad overall performence.

Please do not upload it to any track database, as it is a beta version and may soon be replaced.

I got a feeling that the ffb is to do with the os that the track is built or converted on, are you using xp, All the tracks i have built on here are all done on xp with the same problem, I have been using windows 7 64 bit for some time and tested some tracks i have built and am not having the problem, may be wrong but it would be good to know from other people who have built tracks or converted to find the solution.
Title: Re: Toowoomba Kart Club WIP (AUS)
Post by: Nitrox on January 05, 2012, 07:39:39 PM
No can't confirm that. I built another track, which does not suffer from FFB loss.

The ok one was build by me with BTB, converted with 3Ds Max Win7 64bit.
Toowoomba was built on another system with BTB, converted by me with same setup.

Don't know what to do about kart.exe error, for me it always worked. Roslkide is working too, didn't test new LaConca yet. 3Ds Max is 32 bit, EDFexp is 23bit too.

Edit: Racehard, you've got a PM!
Title: Re: Toowoomba Kart Club WIP (AUS)
Post by: Racehard on January 05, 2012, 07:51:44 PM
Yeah that .exe problem only happens at a few systems, we couldn't find out what it was caused by.

Maybe these three tracks have something in common which others don't have?

Title: Re: Toowoomba Kart Club WIP (AUS)
Post by: Ryan Harris on January 06, 2012, 11:22:21 AM
The track was originally made on windows xp so that might be the explanation why the ffb does what it does

Can someone make a YouTube video of my track please because i am currently unavailable to test it :D

EDIT:
Decided to update to beta5 and give the track a test. Very pleased with how it converted into the game. With experience from racing on the track in real life, i'd have to say it is very similar, if not 95% accurate to it's real life counterpart. I'm getting the force feedback loss issue too. It seems to only occur when driving over bumps or ripple strips? hopefully piboso will end up finding a solution to this problem. Thanks for converting the track for me :)

Nice to hear! I had the idea with bumps and ripple strips too, thus drove a few very careful laps. After some minutes FFB was gone...
Title: Re: Toowoomba Kart Club WIP (AUS)
Post by: Ryan Harris on January 08, 2012, 09:58:15 AM
it becomes very annoying :(

I try to take the real racing line but sometimes the force feedback would just disable because i try to use a little bit more kerb so... hopefully it can be worked on.

What do you mean by "lanes"?
Title: Re: Toowoomba Kart Club WIP (AUS)
Post by: dibu on January 17, 2012, 01:39:27 PM
In your .rdf file the corridor values are set to 0.000000

If you use the following values, the corridors are open:

corridor0 = -1.500000
corridor1 = 1.500000

If the corridors (lanes) don't exist, you can't start a race.

Toowoomba updated with starting lines and reuploaded - no further changes. I think the Beta is ok and driveable, so I think I will continue when I have a new idea for FFB loss. I don't want to spent more time completing the shaders etc, since it's not really useable because of FFB loss.

I hope zippy share works for everyone, if not please report back. Megaupload is down btw.

Records should work now! Also, track is no longer displayed as beta.

If you want to improve marshalls or camera set or anything else feel free to do so. I'm not really into KRP anymore because of too little time. Will try to at least register the track after every KRP update. If I miss something feel free to send me a pm ;)

Track crashes to desktop for me.  :(  I've had a few tracks with this problem, but this is the first one that I really wanted to try.  Any ideas of the cause of this?  It occurs not when the track is first loading (like most other tracks did for me), but when I click from the 'garage' menu to go to my kart.

Hey there,
unfortunately, I've been away from KRP quite a while now and don't really have time to look into this. However, I think I still have all the Track Builder and 3ds Max data from the last version. So if there are still problems with the track and anyone with skills wants to look into this, pls get permission from Ryan Harris (Mr Showtime22) and I can provide you with the files.
