downloading updates is like 400x faster with steam

Only license keys purchased before the 16th of July, 2017 can be converted to a Steam key.
Why is that?

i bought it well before then and my key converted, best guess converter is only for beta keys release key already works for steam

The possibility to convert the license to a Steam key is meant as a bonus for those who purchased Kart Racing Pro while still in the Beta stage of development, when there was no Steam option.

You can still race online, you just need to update the game to the latest release

Please note that the Steam and standalone versions are fully compatible, including online.
