Poll
Question: What chassis will we run the Rotax Mini Max on?
Option 1: Full-sized votes: 22
Option 2: Cadet votes: 18
Title: Rotax Mini Max Question
Post by: Birel-Rotax 42 on November 23, 2013, 10:57:21 PM
As I have finalized my model for the Mini Max, as well as the dyno information, shall we run the full-sized or cadet chassis for the Mini?
Vote... I will do both, but I may only release one.

I'm leaning towards that only because it produces significantly more than 10 horsepower.

the micro should go on the cadet but not the mini max otherwise what would be the point of having a micro

I agree. Furthermore, after driving a mini for a year, and having 2 years of Junior, I feel that a Minimax belongs on a full-sized kart. Apparently, so does BRP/Rotax...

Above is the full-sized and cadet versions of the Minimax. The full-sized kart is using the cadet driver, but can be changed.
Another question...
Use the cadet driver model?

maybe for the cadet driver in the full size make some pedal extenders so that the model can reach the pedals? quite a nice idea though with the cadet driver in the adult

the mini driver on the full sized chassis is probably best, mini max runs on full sized chassis same as KF3 and Junior max, but the drivers tend to be smaller, as their about 12

Since the chassis have different characteristics, they won't be able to race online together. The poll will end when we reach a consensus in the comments, plus when there is good feedback given. What I might do is create both and  run a beta testing for a week or so, and get feedback, because I am looking for what the community wants. Personally, I drove Birel in Minimax, and drove a chassis that was a 1010mm wheelbase, which is just shorter than a full-sized. As of now, I have my reasons for wanting to go with both. Soon, I will make a download database for Rotax MAX where feedback will be recorded, and a gallery of all the Rotax engines so people know which is which. For now, keep voting and giving opinions. They are really helpful, because I have changed my mind on which chassis I prefer many times so far. However, keep in mind that with both come consequences, in terms of handling/performance, because the full-sized chassis weighs 55kg, driver weighs 70 (I don't know about the mini chassis weight or mini driver weight) and in reality all Rotax engines (aside from the Micro MAX) weigh 23.6kg ish with water. At that point, the Minimax on a cadet kart accelerates better (it may be the size of the kart throwing me off), but it also weighs 14kg over the 235 that it should weigh. I could take the engine weight down to 10kg and make the entire weight be 35kg, but it still feels slow out of the corner. On the other hand, the Mini chassis doesn't have near as much grip, plus doesn't have OTK and Freeline bodywork. Anyway, keep giving suggestions, as this project is community-driven. I would argue that Minimax is the most controversial class around the world because of the lack of rules regarding if they run full chassis with 2 fronts and 2 wide rear tires or if they run cadet karts with 4 front tires, or full chassis with 4 front tires, or any combination of that.

As I said before, they can't race online. Unless you want to separate karts, you can't race them together.

The Regulation of Mini Max is Fullsize kart also from ROTAX OFFICIAL, and emil not only in ENgland drive fullsized also in Germany and also in Belgium and and and ...

Mini Max Class is for Learning how to handle Fullsize kart for the next Junior Class. So its STUPID TO DO MINI MAX an CADET CHASSIE ?!?! whats wrong with you ?
Title: Re: Rotax Mini Max Question
Post by: Birel-Rotax 42 on November 27, 2013, 03:11:10 AM
Your statement that "ROTAX OFFICIAL" says the Minimax is on a full-size kart is completely wrong. In no way do the regulations (found here: http://www.gorotax.com/images/technical/2013-Pan-American-Challenge-Technical-Regulations--Micro-and-Mini.pdf and here: http://www.rotaxchallenge.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CotASups20131.pdf   plus the 2015 regulations here: http://www.gorotax.com/rules-and-regulations/technical-bulletins/127-technical-bulletin-mini-max-2015-chassis-regulations.html and other regulations here: http://www.laf.lv/laf/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Rotax-Micromax-Minimax-technical-reg.pdf) all never state that it is required to run a cadet or full-size kart. Instead, they state wheelbase: 1041.4 mm (41 inches) maximum. Furthermore, they state that any diameter of chassis between 28mm and 32mm are acceptable, with a rear axle thickness in accordance to minimum CIK/FIA regulations. As for your statements that they are run in Germany, Belgium and England, those are true, however they do run on the equivalent of a Junior Max configuration, with full rear tires. That is against most U.S. Rotax rules, which happened to host the Grand Finals in 2013. At the Grand Finals, all Minimax chassis ran with slick front tires on all 4 wheels, and had chassis of 28mm, and wheelbase of 950mm (haase kart chassis info: http://www.haase.it/chassis.php?ln=en&model=BOMBER-MINIMAX). Finally addressing your comment "what is wrong with you?" : I am struggling a little bit with my Algebra 2 Homework, as 7th degree polynomials are tricky. Other than that, I believe you need to check your information before posting criticism. Last, most of the feedback has been great, so to the people who are posting useful information, thank you. Keep it coming, as the polls will close at 12:00 MST (US Mountain Time) on the 27th of November.

A package with the Senior and Micro will be out in a matter of weeks with both the full-sized and mini chassis for the Minimax. Changeling so far:
-Sounds will now be integrated into multiplayer
-Junior Max will accelerate from idle faster
-Minimax on cadet chassis will weigh the same as the full-sized Minimax
-New radiator!
-New exhaust pipe
-Radiator cover goes up to 95%
-Engine heating and temperatures fixed
Added:
-Rotax Minimax
    -Full-size chassis
    -Cadet chassis
-Note: Minimax will run at around 195'F/97'C
-Note: Minimax will run a spec gear of 13 Driver Gear and 82 Rear Sprocket
Added:
-Rotax Senior
-Powervalve added to engine model

*All will come in a zip file as a group beta*

A question: what temp does the Senior run at? What temp does Micro run at?
Thank you for all of the support that you guys have given! What a project this has been. With school and racing, KRP is just about the only thing I try to get mods out for consistently (I do skins for Codemasters F1)
Thank you so much!
