Title: Rotax Max 125 Junior MAX
Post by: Birel-Rotax 42 on September 18, 2013, 03:22:11 AM
I have been testing this for a bit, and I just finally found a low-quality 3d model for the Rotax. This is the physics for the Junior MAX and has a 3d model that isn't made by me. MRO is making the amazing model, and I will be releasing this again when he finishes. Thanks to fmaisonnave for finding the model, and to PiBoSo for all of the help he has given me along the way. It is truly awesome to be a part of this community and have such a great relationship with all of you.

**Edit** New package with Senior, Junior, and Minimax out located at link below.

Rotax Junior: http://forum.kartracing-pro.com/index.php?topic=4103.0

**Edit** The disappearing bug has been solved, and an airbox has been added to the 3d model. Model is now much smoother, and has a battery.

All textures on this are made by me, I did very little 3d work on this. I imported this into KRP. There is a bug where the engine will disappear suddenly when a driver is more than 10 feet away. Also, airboxes don't work on this engine. I don't know how to fix it, so if anybody knows, feel free to message me. Again, you guys rock, and I am blessed to be in this great community. Thanks guys!

Max rpm?
Title: Re: Rotax Max 125 Junior MAX
Post by: Birel-Rotax 42 on September 18, 2013, 08:22:50 PM
The engine will stop working at 17000 rpm, but won't reach it. It stops accelerating at around 14200, but won't get up to that without the draft. 'Turbo' kicks in at 122000, and 6000 is where acceleration becomes optimal.

Thanks guys! Please submit any bug-reports or comments on what the engine feels like, because the development is still going on. Aside from that, I haven't had much time to do anything this week and I'm afraid that I won't be able to do any work on the senior of mini next week. I'll start trying to fix the engine disappearance bug, but seriously, if anybody knows how to fix that I would be grateful if you sent me a message.

Version 2.0! This update is not required as the physics have not been changed, however, it is recommended that you update for the 3d model.

Thanks for the support you guys! New 3d model has much smoother edges, airbox, and doesn't disappear.

MRO's model will take the place of mine in the near future. This is just in place until MRO puts out his amazing model!
Thanks especially to PiBoSo for helping me with the disappearance bug!

Any GPU? Also, you may want to try turning down graphics settings. I know that when I run KRP on my laptop wothout a GPU, it is terribly slow and crashes very often. I can make a lower-quality model for the engine again so people with slower computers can run smoothly.

Yea i already run everything on low as possible, its kinda a school laptop and was never built to play games but it does play well with the other engines.

Game crashes for me when I try selecting the Rotax Jr. When I restart the main screen just shows the driver and no kart. Kart selection screen you can select the Rotax but the kart does not show up. When you go to join or create a server the game crashes. Computer and GPX are not a problem, max graphic settings I get 200+FPS with other karts. Only other add on kart I have is the Stock Honda and it works fine.

I would try what EVO says. If nothing else, I will release a lower poly model for ease of use on slower systems.

Extracted the file again, the engine file did not extract or was lost the first time.

I knew my systems speed and performance was not the issue.

One more update! I uploaded a torque curve that is exact to a curve I found http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/af87/mat12345678910/untitled-2.jpg
Again, any comments are appreciated. Update can be found in the main post or http://www.mediafire.com/download/dc18fjs2vhxlnax/Rotax_Junior.zip
The senior will be coming out soon, too. I have a curve for that as well.

corrie how do you change the sounds again to the kf3? do you open up karts.pkz?
Title: Re: Rotax Max 125 Junior MAX
Post by: Birel-Rotax 42 on November 16, 2013, 08:58:33 PM
ATTENTION The sounds do not work correctly in multiplayer!
In order to get correct sounds, extract your engines.pkz file. Next, open up the i_kf3 and copy the .wav sound files from the kf3 engine folder. Paste those files into the Rotax engine folder, and replace them all. This will get rid of the sounds, but will make multiplayer playable, as you will not have the sound glitch.

A Quick Overview of the Glitch:
When in a multiplayer session, the new sounds of the Rotax will be heard from anywhere on the track. It makes the multiplayer undrivable. In the future, I will work out the bug, and create sounds for the Senior, Mini, and Micro.

Again, any comments are appreciated.

https://gorotax.com/images/downloads/datasheet-JUNIOR.pdf
- tyres sets should be limited at 2
- max rpm engage clutch should be 4000

http://membre.megaquebec.net/mtlamla/rotax/gear-ratio-analysis.htm
- these should be sprockets

- you are using the KF3 chassis, why you use FL250 tyres?

- you are using old rows for cooling in the cfg file, are you having some sort of issues?
Title: Re: Rotax Max 125 Junior MAX
Post by: Birel-Rotax 42 on November 17, 2013, 05:56:05 PM
FS250 tires are to simulate Mojo D1 tires, which are much less sticky than the D2's. The D2 tires will be put on the Senior, and will run as the KF3 tires, as they have more grip. I have just fixed the gears, so the drive gears are 11, 12, and 13 tooth. Axle gears are 70 up to 84.
Also, radiator cover up to 95%, as real Rotax radiators are usually covered up to 70%. Engine heat mechanics will also be updated along with the engine model with the new radiator.

Changelog for next release:
-Heating of engine changed
-Radiator cover to 95%
-New engine model
-Slight torque curve adjustment
-Clutch engages at 4000 RPM
-14 tooth sprocket removed

A question to everybody:
Is this new exhaust pipe a bit better?

You can always run a smaller driver gear. I will add it in the next release if there are more needs for it.

You can run the 11 tooth driver gear.

ok so because i wanted to have more rear sprockets i have edited the .cfg file so that the rear now goes up to 89
Obviously i take no credit for the mod as it belongs to corrie.
if you want to have more rear please download this edited .cfg file : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_jUy4jKq0aZYXJHS0ZxS2FMYzQ/edit?usp=sharing (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_jUy4jKq0aZYXJHS0ZxS2FMYzQ/edit?usp=sharing)

just overwrite the old one in your : kart racing pro>engines>i_rotax

Please note that the file uploaded as of now will not work online. Also, using an 11 tooth driver gear with an 84 tooth rear sprocket will produce similar results as a 12-89. If needed, it will be integrated in the next release, however with a 12-89, you will easily be hitting 13900 rpm easily.

Post by: James Beer on December 16, 2013, 08:49:50 PM
i did this because i wanted to simulate a setup in real life not using another sprockets combination because thats how the game is. The more sprockets the better hopefully you will include this in your next release

A package with JR, SR, and both Minimaxes is scheduled for next week. Right now sound testing and mixing is priority, as physics is pretty much done. They will be released in a single "Rotax Mod" download that will be constantly updated.
