Thanks EVO, the track is is quite fast :)
First time I had to use tracked to find my way from the pits to the track ;D

Can you please have a look at the online timing in the stats. Seems not to work.

Tested it, yeah its not too bad for a street circuit infact it does look pretty decent.

This track will be fun for some online racing. I like those fast turns.

Good work guys.

Hey do any of you guys no why the barries are casting shadow but are not getting a shadow on them

They have a all white alpha channel so the kart shadow doesnt show on it.  I named it CK_barrier.tga and its a WLLTYRE.
CK objects normally get shadows on them right?
Title: Re: Rock Island Grand Prix by Slim Jim and MaTi converted by EVO

not sure are tirewalls getting shaddows? if yes it is CK prefix fault with ur barriers, if it is the same with tirewalls use TRK

you guys are still to fast!!!  i think the track must be longer.  I see you are reaching 85mph it should be more like 100 i think. Anyone know?

I want to make the course more treacherous , by seperating the hay bales like in the vidos and rotating them 90 degrees.  it will make brushes with the side of the course very risky.

:)  it is really fun to drive there, i love that corners, u can drive very fast. We are too fast? :D that was warmup, i promise the 29 will fall today ^^

not to be picky but,  the shadows are on the wrong side of the track, meaning the sun angle is coming from the wrong direction.
the main start finish straight is heading east, and the shadows are coming from the north, flip the sun to come from the south, and you got it right....lol
something i like seeing are the shadows in the right place for the right time of day.. it only matters if you have been to that track many times.
but other than that it looks very nice, i like the graphics engine this game has.

Evo do you know this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F29Y-dhk7DI

Tracks already pretty good. Only I wish hay bales were more bushy  ;D

You know what would be really cool though. In the video I can see so many tire marks on the walls. Can we do that somehow. Or even better does the game create tire marks if we scrape the walls? I can't remember to have seen some.

Woaw, nice track!

I've seen the trees have a problem, one of their plane is dark and the other lighter. You should rename tree texture to CK_tree_thenameyouwant.TGA and their shadow will disappear.

EVO that was a promo video, and that was taped in 2010, they still have a lot of hay.

oh... also i started OMC.. Oklahoma Motorsport Complex today, got about 80% of the track finished in 6 hours.
i talked to the track owner on the phone today, and got all the details, he said call back if i need some pics.
i'll have to find some good shots of the pit buildings, 2 main buildings i got to do is all.
and this track has night racing, so this outa be fun.

You are a machine. Good pictures are essential. I think.  Did you explain to him how you need them taken.  Was he confused.  "what do you mean take a picture of the building wall?"

Nice videos, too bad it was such a bad turn out, must have been the worst they have had.
2nd video shows how not to drive a shifter at RIGP, the guy was braking 1/2 block before the turns,
and was off the throttle for much too long, resulting in everybody passing him.
Love the dive bomb pass, very brave move.   8)

PS, the track does looks more dangerous without the haybales.

Check the sound of the kart at 2:04  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKAUcp9iOiA&feature=relmfu

Which engine is that, or are these? It sounds by far best, probably that's why he is in front with like 10hp more or so  ;D
I love how they rip around the turns at least the first few guys.

And what are the fastest times in the different classes in real.

The times are a bit faster in krp.

Is the track the exact length?
Title: Re: Rock Island Grand Prix by Slim Jim and MaTi converted by EVO
Post by: Slimjim on September 13, 2012, 07:30:11 PM
Not 100% sure on that as it was one of my 1st tracks i made.
we did use google maps to trace the track, but BTB was not released at the time.
so the exact distance was not calulated, but it's close, as the World Karting mod is also a  few seconds faster here.
but all the tracks i'm making now, the mod is spot on for lap times in all classes.
Xplex track was the 1st using correct distance calculated in during the build.

Okay guys update 2012 is almost there.  Hayabails are now gone for PiBoSo cones and SlimJims awsome Techpro barriers.  I put a texture with white alpha and CK_ prefix but the barriers all get the strange shadow on them.. it wasnt doing that before....any ideas?

okay i had yo add a tiny 1 pixel black dot to my alpha channels now it works.  I may have to put all 3ds Max cones instead now..

not sure if you have the latest 3DSimed, it does a great job, of smoothing meshes now.

maybe i should try to make a new mesh of the track now that i know a little more about BTB,
I still can use all the same buildings, and TSO's . Also i now know how to make buildings in google sketchup.

Honestly its looking pretty dam good.  I changed some building textures using google earth street view then modifiying them in photoshop.
The antenae is also red white and blue/green.  I think maybe i just need to ad more bumps and make it more sketchy to drive.  Actually make racers fearful even playing this sim

Looks so good now. Clever idea taking pictures from streetview. Thx for your effort man.

Can't wait to have some cool online battles there once more.

But I see one little problem, the lap times will drop even further because now it's possible to stay way more outside because the cones are none collideable. Of course we could agree not to do this when driving against each other online, but if it's for the leaderboard people will use every inch on track they get.

And I like the idea with more bumps too.

You are right Racehard, it's too easy to use a 'bit more street' now. The cones should be collideble or have a transparent barrier around.

Post by: EVO on September 18, 2012, 06:52:28 AM
Im sorry guys but it doesnt make sense to make cones colidable.  Cones are something that must give way. Even tire and techpro barries should.
Id raher just make more checkpoints to solve the track hacking issue.

To the karters that have driven this track and played this in KRP where can I add bumps?
Title: Re: Rock Island Grand Prix by Slim Jim and MaTi converted by EVO
Post by: Slimjim on September 18, 2012, 09:39:48 PM
from what i have seen in the videos, they did use the barriers on both sides of the turns,
just put them put long enough so your not able to use the extra part of the track for corner entrance.
just place the cones on the straight section and start the barriers about 20 feet before the turn in .

release the track with tighter checkpoints so going outside the cones will results in a penalty.  Add some more bumps too

Good simple track.  Love the detail of the manhole covers and the cobblestone crosswalks.  However I prefer the earlier version that was with hay bales vs the newer one with loads of cones.  And looking at videos of the actual race, hay bales is correct.
