Title: Yosemite Park (WIP)
Post by: Aritz on July 28, 2012, 10:53:52 AM
And what about this  8)

A fantasy track, 10000 meters long, narrow, dangerous, tricky... The track will have the awesome Yosemite Park inspiration  :D

thatlooks  crazy you should have a steep top speed downhill section with some technical cruves to connect the loop

I said 4500m long? Forget it! 10km of track! 360m of ascent (and descent) About 6 mins each lap!

Gentlemen, start your nitro powered engines! (Or be ready to push your kart in some parts...)

Awesome Aritz!

This track is not easy to make, the downhill needs pronounced cambers, the terrain is very difficult to fill with its cliffs, the skyline will be a nightmare... (here it is not possible to use the default SKY, the view from the high part is very laaaaaaarge and I have to "dress" all the environment)

And one big problem is how big the track is... Any process needs several minutes or hours to finish...

But I want to release a fast alpha for testing, I am sure that you can help me to make a fun track without bugs and with exciting curves  :D

I use to compress the track folder in a ZIP file, but what is the problem?

its just that the pkz are so much easier to deal with and quick also simple :D

Is not a big deal, you can rename ZIP to PKZ and you have your pkz file  ;D

why are u woried about the web addresses?   renaming it doesnt work...?     sorry but i dont really understand and this is a bit off topic i have to say

Don't worry, I will upload both versions of the ZIP, the ZIP itself and the same file renamed to PKZ (which is not a difficult thing to do, but this kind of files usually have their extension hidden and that is the reason you can't do it)

for people that dont see file types goto windows control panel folder options.  veiw tab then find the box for hide extensions for known file types and unclick it.  then apply and okay. now you will see whether a file is .zip  .pkz or .rar

You will lol, but this is my "patch"  ;D

This is of course, the first driveable track attempt, only for test the curves and feelings. If everything is ok, tomorrow I will be able to release the only-for-testing-track  ;)

The track needs a little modification, but not very difficult, so I hope to release the alpha these days.

I could drive one complete lap  though ;D

Yes it did  ;D

Yesterday I lost the proyect with a weird crash  >:( Fortunately, I had a previous "Yosemite-testing" backup and I will be able to redo all my advances  :-\  I use to save different proyects to avoid this kind of probems if I do something that can't be undone  ;)

yeah i have had this issue too. its sucks. 3dsMAX has a built in autosave  feature.  you can find the autosaves in mydocuments>3dmax>autobacs>
maybe it is there? Good luck
Title: Re: Yosemite Park (WIP)
Post by: Aritz on August 18, 2012, 10:34:09 AM
I use BTB first, there are many things that I do better with it, like cambers, traffic signals or fences for example. The problem was BTB, 3ds is a very good program, almost never fails :) And of course, autosave is very useful, but BTB has not...
Title: Re: Yosemite Park (WIP)
Post by: EVO on August 18, 2012, 10:45:56 AM
you can write scripts for 3ds max maybe someone wrote a autosave script for BTB. I know alot of users make track objects for BTB.  I should learn BTB for the reasons you mention.

You should consider making a track for one of these big kart clubs in Europe.  Myabe they'll pay you...or sponsor you.... :)
