Title: Basic Starting Lights

here is lights I made
simply paste the contents into your .tga directory including the text files
Merge the max file with your track
in the bottom right of max screen click Zoom Extend all Selected (you may have to click and hold over the icon)

this will show you where the lights merged in, now move them to the location you want.

Export .map and you should have functioning lights

Thank's will give them ago as i couldn't get mine to work, This will save me time trying to work it out.

yeah it does that i forgot to condense the materials.  I reuplaod it. by the way the texture are not the best you may want to get the pole a nice weatherd metal material mapping
 
But for your knowledge to make a faster operating max file and eliminate this error with merged files goto material editor then in the menu bar utilities and condense material library.
