Title: [Release] Es Course
Post by: Aritz on February 13, 2012, 11:12:07 AM
Track released  :D

A very fast track, perfect for the fastest karts  ;D

Thx to Schwoni, he did the buildings and he helps a lot when someone ask for help  ;)

We learn a lot doing this track, so the next will be better  8)

Now the track has a FOG instead of CLOUDY, I like it and I hope you will like it too :)

If you want me to make textures for you i will.  Look like you will be dealing with alot of sand and dry grass, but a very nice new road surface.

I think you should make the track the way it will be when its finished?  have far are they from completing it? Do they have their paddock buildings,  marshall booths, barriers  yet?

I think only one thing is finish-less, the stands. But don't worry, the work won't be done soon...

I am uploading the photos I took  ;)

close racing should be easy on fast tracks which is what we need. less learning curve more consistency.

Great track Aritz. You always do great work.  The road looks very real and the bumps feel really good.

I play on medium graphics

bugs
There is a bug in KRP. If you give a texture alhpa it reduces or elimiates the kart's shadow.
So for buildigns give them a white alpha or else you will see strange shadows on them.  (See attached picture)
The ceiling of the tower needs a texture because you see through it from bellow (see attach picture)

Question
How do you make the 3d grass more in some areas and less in others.  I tried a density map once and it didnt work.

Suggestion
for final textures give them a slight worn in look for the buidligns and  maybe some rubber on the kerbs.
Maybe you can do some dirt/sand around the track and then dirt/grass further away.
The fence texture is tilled very small maybe that is more like real life but it appears like a screen in the game.

BUGS: Yes, I know :) I was testing to use transparent glasses but I will not use them because of those reasons. No problem with alpha channel then ;)

QUESTION: http://forum.kartracing-pro.com/index.php?topic=11.240

SUGGESTION: The buildings are not texturized at all. They were made by Schwoni (thanks!!) but I have to texturize them yet... The kerbs are too new, I know, work to be done too. The fence is a problem... I don't know how to do a better one, I am using the BTB's fence and it is as it is.

Thanks for helping ;)

i take a look at the fences now maybe better to do them in 3d too. no appear and dissappear and no ugly white alpha
Title: Re: Es Course new track
Post by: Schwoni on May 18, 2012, 07:07:52 PM
there is one problem with FFB in camber parts but that is a problem of KRP i have the same in liedolsheim and it is impossible to fix. if u have a camber corner u drive through it and if u steer more that 45° round about the FFB pull to that side, like opposide FFB effects.

Title: Re: Es Course NEW BETA
Post by: Aritz on June 01, 2012, 09:09:33 PM
Thank you :D

This track is a trainning for a future free-proyect. No more real track limitations!

I don't know how to optimize, simply not big textures, not superdetailed asphalts and no thousends of objects...
Title: Re: Es Course NEW BETA
Post by: EVO on June 01, 2012, 09:44:01 PM
I see that now.  Its so simple but so amazing.  the 3d grass is working perfect.  The 3d grasss represents the acutal grass just how it should be.  in general grass textures almost all look bad for  some reason (no believable depth). The kerbs look like Gran Turismo 5 quality, Amazing. What settings did you use.  in 3ds max, .GRS, and Shader Map Pro?

Thx but building structures are made by Schwoni, he has the good job!

Kerbs are real Magescq's but changed colours. Their bump channel give them their nice looking. By the way, I have to fix many mapping, some are wrong or up side down :D

To mrshowtime: Yes, the track is packed in a zip file. You have unzip it in tracks folder

I think gras was used becuase you get stuck in sand.
There should be a sad that is less resitstant

Thank you for the support! Yes, grass is the only terrain which is feasible right now. Sand will be a trap if you pass through it.

But in this case, the most similar terrain is the grass. Es Course has dry grass all over the track (I can't choose between dry/fresh grass to simulate the dirty tyre, KRP always paints fresh green grass blades when you go out of the track). You cannot see it because you have the 3d grass disable :)

Title: Re: Es Course NEW BETA
Post by: Aritz on July 02, 2012, 11:03:09 AM
Not in this track but I tested on villarcayo and I liked it :) The grip losing is quite realistic (grass is too much in my opinion) But there is a problem, the "smoke" when you go out is white  ;D

An improvement of the available terrains will be interesting! I am dreaming maybe, but snow, gravel, dirt (this track) or mud will be awesome to have. Dirt and mud might be the same but with different weather :)

Gravel I think is a must, many tracks has gravel as kart stoppers and sand is not the same feeling. Sand is a trap, both here and real, and gravel should be the best choice; massive time losing but you can exit from it to track.

Dry grass should be easy to simulate, I think only grass texture on the tyres has to be changed to a yellow blades and maybe less difference between dry and rain (which is too high now, wet grass is not ice!)

EDIT: Soil will be the right choice :)

ah ok, yes there is grass  ;D

the kart gets stuck also because there is a step between grass and tarmac

Am I getting crazy or now the smoke is like the grass material, brown??? Which is the grip difference between grass and soil?

Soil uses the same particles effect of grass.
The material has more grip and more rolling resistance than grass.

Hey guys,

I dont want to be complete idiot but I have a few questions. I couldn't where this tab is located; but I have everything loaded and have the full licence. I have a few tracks downloaded but I'm not how I did it. I do know it downloads a zip file but what do I do from there? I really wana test the track you just made. Maybe if you could give me a few steps to try that would be great!!

Thanks,

I thought it was a boring track but it is not  :P

Doesn't matter, teamwork is great and the final product is amazing.

I've tried building my own track but only on the trial version of BTb and I'm hopless and I'm not aloud to watch YouTube videos to learn how to build them because of reasons.

In fact, this option is available if the track creator makes it ;)

Maybe CLOUDY is not the right word, it should be "NOT SUNNY", and then the choosen weather can be anything like FOG, NIGHT, PSYCHEDELIC (yes, that is possible!)...  :P

can you post the setting you used for FOG and Dusk
Title: Re: Es Course RELEASED
Post by: Aritz on July 15, 2012, 05:38:08 PM
FOG (cloudy used)

cloudy
{
ambient
{
red = 0.48
green = 0.52
blue = 0.5
}
sun_color
{
red = 0.6
green = 0.6
blue = 0.6

}
fog
{
density = 0.03
red = 1
green = 1
blue = 1
}
sky = cloudysky.edf

Dusk (cloudy)

cloudy
{
ambient
{
red = 0.15
green = 0.15
blue = 0.15
}
sun_color
{
red = 0.1
green = 0.1
blue = 0.1
}
fog
{
density = 0.008
red = 0.1
green = 0.1
blue = 0.1
}
sky = cloudysky.edf

But don't forget you have to edit cloudsky.edf (or do night.edf and edit the text)

I've used those textures:

The fog is included, you have to choose "Cloudy" weather.

Night is not, you have to replace these included files (don't forget to do a backup) and use cloudy weather. But you are not going to see a damn thing, is night and there are not lights  ;D

You're right, I've found the problem...

There is other bug that I cannot fix, I have to wait until the Beta7 and then, I will release the final track  ;)

What a joy to drive, the best kart track I have ever driven.

And the quality is amazing too. Only thing I found is some flickering fence at the back straight.

Thank you Aritz!

I didn´t like the track but now I love it! By the way, on Tuesday I will drive on the real track for the first time, I will upload the video to compare. Let's hope I did a good "copy" :P
