I am already bored with racing against my own lap times. The online lobby seems pretty dead and when i do see somebody to race against the game crashes. AI cars would be nice even if its only because they would make a lonely racer happy!

With an improved netcode/better online performance (probably next beta?) there is no need for AI at all.
Everybody who bought krp, has an internet connection and thus he can play online which is way better than AI anyway.
AI would just waste resources, which could be used to further develop other areas.
That's my opinion at least.

I'd like AI karts just to hone skills against them. Maybe they could come later online or we could have actual best ghost laps uploaded from real practice laps. I like to know the tracks and be competitive before I take on real drivers, I hate being outside about 2% of the aliens.

Doing AI is not easy at all... They are slow and they are not able to handle the rest of the traffic... If you want good AIs, you have to be prepared for a looong time with no new betas... I would like to see more betas with more new features, less bugs and better netcode...
