Please don't judge this supposed competitor from a video with a lot of post-rendering effects.

Competition is good, because it pushes to do better.
But this isn't out yet, just a video and some screens; so in the meantime it can bite my shiny metal ass :D

Yeah PiBoSo is totally right.

Already the fact kartsim is planned to be released for xbox 360 and ps3 aswell, tells me that it can't be a true hardcore simulation.

And btw kartsims 3d kart model doesn't look any good to me. Pretty sure they created it 5 years ago  ;D

This karting game was announced long long time ago on karting1.co.uk. I even forgot it. See the interview of the developpers here in 2006:

Years ago some team announced a simulation called kart champions, which then went bankrupt so it never was released and completely disappeared.

Yea that's right! But the sim looked very good and seemed to be pretty close to the reality...shit happens.. ;)

If Kartsim or the karts in rFactor2 will be better than KRP, then everyone will switch.
But are videos and screens enough to call a competitor?

so sorry, mister! but i will stick to this one right here! ;)

and videos and pics are far from being enough to set any opinion about a game/sim...
THEY HAVE TO SHOW CUSTOMER THE INSIM!!!!!!!!!!!!! not just a video with a bunch of edited stuff...

KRP FTW! hehe

Well KRP is actually the best karting sim,but it really don't have to worry for the graphics only, but for the multiplayer part...
This is the actual lack in KRP!!!
No chat,no way to meet players online or to set up a race together and the worse part,BAD contact in close racing (even if I must say that it's improving time after time with Piboso's work)
I think we all agreed that we don't mind for real kart's license trademark or real name series or that is no preblem if we don't have any AI's, but the multiplayer will have to be improved to make it the best sim over time, won't you?
PS:for me track ir support is also a must since I don't like the shitty freetrack and in order to avoid contacts you need to open eyes all around, but it's all up to Piboso;come on man keep it up the great work!!!

I think if you stick to accurate physics and good multiplayer then you will keep your audience regardless of the graphics. As much as I hate comparing things to iRacing, they are successful because of these two points even though it has out dated graphics. Another example of this is Richard Burns Rally. The die hard sim guys are the real target for a program like KRP and its proven they will see past the graphics.

I also think that KartSim's intentions are clear considering that they are making console versions of the game, making it more commercial. Usually when this happens it means you forfeit some realism in exchange for "fun" or easier gameplay for the casual user. They usually try and do this with some sort of realism setting but you just have to look at games like F1 2010 to see that it just does not work out like that.

Piboso, if all fails and people start to move across to other kart sims, you could always open source the code and boost its development that way.

+Bouncing and engine hesistation over bumps because the chassis is rigid. The vibrations of the front fairing  and flex of the chassis.
(I've seen it in super 1 karting almost decade ago)
we would feel some bouncing effect if the tracks were not all so flat. Amay is an extreme example of the opposite condtion.

That was probably the only part of the kartsim video which seemed real to me, and I would wish to have in krp aswell.
The way the kart and engine revs reacted to bumps on the straights and in turns reminded me of several real kart vids.
Don't know how complicated this is, but pls PiBoSo take a look at it :)
As you said competition is good for improvement, and even though kartsim has reached nothing till now, you could already start to outperform them even more :D

You have to admit it and I admit on my part, so far the KRP is the best simulator I have problems karts, like any simulator lacks some progress but this is being done by little. :)

You cant judge a game that is not even in Beta form yet (Kartsim). So we just have to wait and see.

What really matters on a sim is its physics. Graphics are just an addendum. Beside some minor things, the physics on KRP have just one real contender: iRacing. For that, I really have to say that PiBoSo did a fine job.
