Yesterday, a handful of folks were in one of the dedicated servers trying to start a race. We were consistently being DQ'ed for speeding upon the green flag (we weren't speeding in fact) We were wondering if there was something weird setup on the race config for the server. I am sure no one was speeding because we chatted a lot about it and made sure no one was, right McBeduille??? Hhehehehe.
Additionally (but this my be just my naivety for being a rookie, at the throw of the green flag, my kart started coasting backwards... I noticed that my engine wasn't probably turned on (which is a hard thing to notice since there's a bunch of noise at the grid) and if you accelerate, you get DQ'ed... So, I needed to ask how the procedure actually works: Whenever I go to the grid, do I need to start the motor or is it automatically started? Do I need to keep the brake pedal depressed from keeping the kart at the grid box position or that's automatically done by the race configuration setting? Finally, to keep the engine from dying (with a low Idle setting) a little throttle has to be applied (just like in real life) can I do that with the brake pedal depressed or the kart will go forward and thus, I'll get DQ'ed?

when it says speeding it really means speed out of limits.
remember that you have a max speed but also a minimum speed.
First you have to accelerate 'til the limit of 60, but you can´t go slower than 20 (If you do you'll get DQ for speeding).
When you get closer to the corridors the limits are tighter as the minimum speed goes up to 30 and the max goes down to 50.
About the start itself... if the idle help is off, you have to start the engine manually.
Here's what I do... hold the brake pedal, then turn on the engine and keep the revs going high by accelerating while braking.
If the kart needs to be pushed to start (KZ1 and F100), I still hold the brakes and when the race starts I let it go and use the push button to get it moving and then get it into 1st gear (KZ1) or just accelerate (F100)
Oh, and there's a yellow line right before the starting line. You can only fully accelerate when you cross that line
