Title: quick question
Post by: EVO on August 18, 2012, 10:32:40 AM
can you force shadows on trk objects (asphalt meats gravel) that have alpha channel?  The small portion that is white in the alpha of texture has now shadow of the kart in the game. The black area get shadow because the track surface texture beneath it has no alhpha.

any ideas?

alpha channel is a mistery for me, it does every kind of strange things...

For example you can't do BUMP with treewalls if you are using alpha, you have to modelate the treewall without transparencies or the wall become semitransparent... Maybe, probably, I am wrong with that, but I couldn't use it, I was able to see the skyline through the treewall

you mean the white or yellow lines? They are part of the tarmac texture, which is a problem because the track bump is too big. For the finished track, they will be separate meshes and the track will have correct bump size.

i found a sort of work around by using seperate meshes. time consuming but add depth and looks better
