Title: A question for shifter karters
Post by: PiBoSo on March 03, 2012, 06:45:38 PM
With the clutch fully pressed ( no power from the engine ) and the gearbox in neutral, which are the max RPM where it is possible to engage the first gear?
any rpm ( even 15.000 )? or only at low rpm?

I have never tried engaging any gearbox over ~ 5k - 6k. That said, it does go in to gear at those RPMs, albeit with more of a clunk/crash than normal. I am speaking of Honda CR 125 motors on karts specifically and 25+ years of motorcycle gearbox experience in general.

With a KZ it'll depend on how much drag you have on your clutch. Generally though you'll be able to bang it into first from neutral if you have the RPMs pegged and the clutch in.
