I have begun on a rotax DD2, at first just using the shifter engine model.
Beta 2 release - Found a proper power curve, engine now flatshifts (no lifting off throttle). Engine temps are fixed, idle is higher, clutch is set at higher revs. Can't disable the hand clutch though. Please replace all files/folders with these -> http://www.mediafire.com/?44e28zorb57yo5j

I have begun on a rotax DD2, at first just using the shifter engine model. I only have one problem, i have put in all the drive gears, and the gear ratios, but the top speed is only 25km/h? If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know
post the torque curve and sprockets
you resolve the problem ?
Yes, just played around with the ratios till it was right :)
I will post a video today :)
Sorry, computer froze yesterday. :-\ Uploading again now :)
am waiting :)
here you go guys, please note i am still fine tuning the engine files :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__VL3bY0QWc
nice video what have u changed?
Changed in regards to what?
well i mean what in the engine? the sound? physic?
Maye stupids questions but i have lost since the beta 4 and am not very good in mechanic of real kart so what the dd2 change?
Different power curve and gear ratios (2 gears), changed weight
Thx jamiecraig for the reply.
Thats all we can touch on the engine? or we can make other things?
Would u have an idea when this will be finished off
Engine files are finished, but I would need someone else to model the engine and create sounds. I can upload the engine/kart now if you like?
That would be amazing thanku
here it is :) http://www.mediafire.com/?s6wpin4w3dl9ww9
Thx jamie finally i have found my way on customising the engine too :)
Edit: The DD2 works like a charm we have 3 shifter kart now :)
this is not the real dd2!
well its the best he can do for know.Thx again.

how much ratio the secodn gear should be? there is a strange " ratio1 = 25, 21.5"
The ratio is strange, as the DD2 has no real input and output gears, the gear simply slides on a shaft. So I played with the ratios till they were about right

here you can find numbers of teeth for primary and secondary drive gear for first and second gear http://www.rotax-kart.com/upload/files/88.pdf you can find also many others informations such as min and max temp of engine, max rpm ecc
These gear ratios do not work, as the primary and secondary gears stated in that are the primary gear and idle gear, so the ratios would be wrong

sorry i haven't understood, what is the idle gear?
i read first gear 4.26 so 15/64, second gear 3.21 so 14/45
so it should be

am i wrong?
If you set the gear ratios like that, the top speed is 32km/h
what is strange is that i can have 275 km/h easylly but in real i can't ahve more than 140.
any tips for to have a speed kart?
I have succeded to have a kart very nervous even in 6xt gear we can make 360 in 5 lol. it's fun and hard but not my goal :)
If it is nervous, add more ballast weight, also to make it faster try changing the first and second axis' inertia and friction. Also change the efficiency. Add more torque in the .engn file.
Also make sure you change the max torque of the clutch to in between 500 and 700, otherwise it slips.

If you set the gear ratios like that, the top speed is 32km/h
because you forgot DD2 engine internal ratio is 1.
try this, i changed also engine weigth, rpm limiter, breake engine rpm, rpm engage clutch, opt engine temp, low and higt engine temp (change these values also in others files otherwise alert lights will not work properly)

do you mean the behaviour on track? at the moment it is impossible to change default chassis and tyres because files are encrypted. it is also impossible add an automatic cutoff
I think the acceleration is to bad. (how fast it is speeding up)

this should be no problem to adjust, when it is assumed engine torque curve is correct, try to add ballast on the chassis
i'm pretty sure torque at low revs is too low
sometimes in these games, even if you have real datas, we have slight to change them for obtain real behaviours. when carb is ok, acceleration strictly depends on gear ratio, so if Andreas has a real DD2, should compare the acceleration with the same gear ratio, and then change the torque curve or ballast until the result is satisfactory

how do i make the necessary adjustments to make this work ?

how do i make the necessary adjustments to make this work ?
the ac adapter of my laptop is broken and i'm waiting for a new one so I can't be exact, if i remember well this is the dd2.cfg file in the engine folder, then you have to match the min and max temperature in the gfx.cfg file in the kart folder
i think i have done it right :D
but still the gear ratios are all wrong first gear should only do about 45mph and it should accelerate hard all the way through but it seems to bog down as you change gear

as I said before, now I can't try it, anyway I checked gear ratios, front and rear sprockets and they are correct, the instruction manual says 47 miles in first gear with 32/65, have you tried in this condition?
the instruction manual also says the better way to use the engine, is in the range 9200/12200 RPM, with possibility of to push the engine at 13600 if the track requires so
I will upload an updated version this afternoon. i have found an accurate torque curve and have updated that. I have also managed to make the engine flat-shift like a DD2(no lifting when shift gears). I am now trying to find a way to disable the hand clutch.

Where is the link for DD2 latest version ? :) and how do you install it
Thank you
Same question as above. How to install it?
just extract the folders inside the rar file to the installation directory
:-\ Doesn't work like that.
Just folder "DD2" into "KRP" folder? Doesn't work :(
Sorry... my mistake.
This particular file has to be extracted like this:
1- Open with winrar or whatever...
2- Open the existing folder
3- place the folder DD2 into "installation folder"/engines (if it doesn't exist, create it)
4- place the 3 remaining folders into "installation folder"/karts (if it doesn't exist, create it)
Done :)
