Suggestions and wishlist / Re: Do you want AI?

Please note that a good AI would take a long time to be integrated.
It must be fast, but also make human-like mistakes. It must be aware of the other karts on track and overtake them when possible.
Last but not least, it must know about the different event sessions and change behavior accordingly.
To make things more complex, the physics simulation is too computationally complex to have a full field of karts, so a dedicated, simplified physics model for AI would have to be coded.
This task would take several months to be completed; months that could be ( better? ) used to:
- improve netcode a lot
- add a web-based servers browser
- complete the linux port
- improve rendering with post-processing effects
and much more...
If you would be so nice to add a "meeting point" or a log-in chat while waiting for race in your KRP ,I'm sure that some servers won't be so empty anymore and we could be easily skip the AI;)

I would forfeit AI for a solid and inviting multiplayer experience.
+ 1 to that...It's been a year that I'm requesting a Multiplayer chat while choosing the server or a list of players online to choose and invite;
it's a bit frustrating to go online and find 4-5 servers with just 1 or 2 ppl online :( (but maybe there are other 10 players looking at the server list and we can't see them ) :'(

General Discussion / Re: KRP has a contender....
September 07, 2011, 01:36:51 AM
Well KRP is actually the best karting sim,but it really don't have to worry for the graphics only,but for the multiplayer part...
This is the actual lack in KRP!!!
No chat,no way to meet players online or to set up a race together and the worse part,BAD contact in close racing (even if I must say that it's improving time after time with Piboso's work)
I think we all agreed that we don't mind for real kart's license trademark or real name series or that is no preblem if we don't have any AI's, but the multiplayer will have to be improved to make it the best sim over time,won't you?
PS:for me track ir support is also a must since I don't like the shitty freetrack and in order to avoid contacts you need to open eyes all around,but it's all up to Piboso;come on man keep it up the great work!!!

I hope to see something useful inserted in KRP,since the servers are almost ever empty...
this simulator really needs a chat...(maybe also a temporary racing chat on this forum also?)

Bug reports / changing kart bug
June 04, 2011, 08:56:30 PM
Hello Piboso,I've noticed that bug:
entered a "open" category server after selecting a kc3,entered in garage then,after seeing some people lapping with ks1 I've exited from the server and relogged with a ks1 selected...
but,when again in pit KRP gave me again a kc3;
retryed againn but sill the same;
not sure if it happens on other tracks an with other kart changing combinations (ks1 to kc1,kc3 to kc1 etc...)

General Discussion / Re: Race review
June 04, 2011, 04:08:21 PM
Well,here's the bug I've found during online race:
I've a friend that lives near my home and plays with me KRP;
after overtaking we crashed because he close his trajectory too much toward my side,because he was thinking that I was a way back from him,but on my pc it appears that I was before him;
that's difficult to explain in speech words,but we checked the replays and mine showed me in front,but on his machine I was back of that position;
the 2 replays show different things and I know this is due to lag,but in close racing as it is for kart racing,we all must know where is the opponent real position and a solution is needed here;
it's ok having a minimal lag,but the objects on the simulator have to be on the same place for all players,isn't it?
By the way Piboso,great improvements are made in this beta 3,keep it up the great work!

PS:I take place in Lepper's race yesterday and it happened again
Quotein front of me there was 2 karts, when they were very closed, they begun to lag and then happened an accident
I was battling with Corrado in front of Oppolo and maybe thats' why we crashed near to him

well my friend,Vroc was a chat like program that allows to meet drivers before to go racing whit the old Grand Prix legends game;
differently from msn or skype if someone was online in vroc,probably is because wants to play or want to talk about things related to Grand Prix Legends (GPL shortened)
when you find some of our friends online in msn or skype you don't know if this person is online just to play or if he's working/on duty,busy with other people etc...thats' the difference to have a kart-related chat ,cheers  ;)

what about creating a continental group?I mean European,Asian,American etc... just because we are few racer compared to other games and we need to meet ourself at the local time of our country,no?
By the way I joined your gruop but I'm Italian ;)

yes of course msn and skype are good,but in a chat you could easily known who's interested in race,because he's logged in a kart chat;
sometimes msn show that person online,but you don't know if he's ready to race or if he's just watching youtube  8)

General Discussion / Re: dirty visor

mmm, maybe it's not so terrible, i became to be used to and now i change visor every 6 or 7 laps
as I said,is not that bad,maybe a 1/3 reduction,but only on the bug splashing;
the dirt building on the visor is perfect timed IMHO...
I feel realistic to drive with a little dirt on it,when I have a couple of second I change it,otherwise I'm fully on the wheel, ;D

Suggestions and wishlist / meeting point
June 02, 2011, 11:44:40 PM
Older pilots remember that in Grand prix legends we had a chat based meeting point named Vroc,where you could meet the others drivers before getting involved in races and arrange some plays;
(or giving some address to voice chat as team speak or so in example)
what about something like that?
it' would be useful to see when there are people online,better than looking for players on servers;
any ideas accepted 8)

I'm italian and not the fastest of the world,but I'd like to be in race with you;
we can give our MSN to see when someone is online,isnt' it?

My fault,clutch was mapped on other button than the one I taught;
bug of lap record still stays then ;)
