I am tired of just doing practice laps so I am thinking of having a race series in 2012 of 10 races running once a month or once a fortnight. Am interested to see if anyone else is keen to join the fun. If the numbers and interest is there I'll put together a calendar of events and start a sign-up thread. If series 1 goes OK, I'll look at running a second series as well as setting up a dedicated league website with forums, etc.
Hardware For Server
- P4 3.0 HT Ghz CPU
- 1.25Ghz DDR RAM
- Cable Internet Connection (Nice and Stable). Only 512Kbps upload but we can see how that pans out. I may be able to upgrade if required
Let me know your thoughts.
Jamie

Great news.
There's 1. Do we have any more takers?????
I'm keen :D
same wen is the race and wats the server name and password if u had one ;D :D ;) :)
Nothing finalized as yet but will do some testing tonight and work out a calendar. Give me a few days with it. I am thinking of at least 1 wet and 1 drying race to make things interesting too.
I'll also get a dedicated server working but will update with specific days/times. Am also thinking of a prize for the season winner along the lines of a t-shirt (basic iron on transfer) or a small trophy.
Let your friends know. It should be fun
I think im in I am getting used to the driving of beta5 and its looking good
Is 1 race per month an OK arrangement for most people. I am thinking the 1st Wednesday of each month to make it simple
sound very good now that should be possible. what time? and timezone?
I was thinking that a starting time of 7.30 Sydney (GMT +10) time for the start of a 1 hour practice. Qual for 20 min, then about 30 lap race.
Just a starting point at this stage but will have to look at most possibilities this weekend if not early next week.
Will have a calendar with details ready by Friday 15th Jan.....Hopefully. Will also setup the dedicated server and have it up for a practice race but more details at a later date. Would like to get about 10 people at least for a practice event to see if my bandwidth is enough and how the program behaves.
Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing you on track
im in!
i`m GMT +1 so 9 hours earlyier we`ll see 22.30 should work.

We are currently in daylight savings time which may put us GMT +11 but I will check and confirm.

Sorry but starting time is 7.30 PM which would make it 10.30 or 11.30 AM where you are. maybe you can play while you're working? ;D
i think in construction zone it sucks :D
I am looking at setting up a server for a racing series this year and need some testers to work out any possible kinks before round 1 in Feb. Am looking at Wednesday the 18th at this stage(around 7pm Sydney time [GMT +11????]) and everyone is welcome.
Server name will be jp_programming.
Calendar is still coming. Real life keeps getting in the way >:(
I'll have a test server up for a few hours today (Sunday) but max ping allowed is 400. Server name is jp_programming Aust
I am seeing how it'll run on Linux 64bit with Wine. If it doesn't play nice, I'll revert to the original windows machine for Wednesday
I tryed to join and it took way too long to connect, so i canceled and tried again but then it said that i was banned so :S
what was the ping rate of the server from your connection?
I'll test it out tonight ;)
48, i live in QLD
My Linux Server will not reboot so I will use my Windows Laptop as a dedicated for now to see how it goes. Will be up from 7.30 till 9.00 tonight.
Sorry and Thanks
sweet as!
could i race with u plz
yeah more the better! where are you from?
No worries Sambo. The more the merrier
Server is up and track is Lonato. I'll be cooking some dinner but will be back for Qual I hope :)
I've seen the server in the list of races, but i'm getting a connection time out when trying to join :( would you know why this is happening?
I'll double check my port forwarding and firewall.
PC went to sleep :D. will be back up in 5
lets race tomorrow night? see who can join?
Get back in!
The inital test went well (even though it was served from my laptop rather than my server) but the dedicated server seemed to work with a few minor bugs on my end (Not the program). Thanks Arrowjmax4 and Mitdawg for helping me test, it was fun.
Sambo and MrShowtime are welcome to join us for another test (linux server this time) on Wednesday night starting from 7PM Sydney time.
Thanks again everyone and I'll see you on track on Wednesday.
Jamie
Forgot to mention that the Wedesday Test will be running Toowoomba. Have to try out the only Aussie track so far :)
Didn't think towoomba is released, I thought it was having problems anyway, anyways I'll be on tonight if we want to race again tonight aswell?
Sorry but I'll be racing rFactor with Sim Racing Australia tonight. 2 rounds of the GT3 championship to go and doing what I can so I don't finish last :)
I can't race on Wednesday cause of work so yeah
I can do Friday instead. The planned race series was for Wednesday nights :(. Will make changes if required but can only be Wednesday or Friday at this stage.
im casual so theres not much point changing just for me, and im working friday aswell so yeh, i guess ill have to miss this one, Can u send me the championship table and stuff? I would like to help with the organization of things.
Will do the table later today/tonight and will start a new sign up thread after Wednesday. Will also look at skins or setup an email address for skin submission.
okies, what class are we going to run? I say KS3 since its Australia and NZ and its like Rotax, and after testing toowomba its probably the best kart for it. We Should try and keep the User Created tracks down a bit, maybe magesq and the new argentinan track coming.
Definitely going to be KC3 for the series. It's the closest to the classes that we run here so it was a no brainer. Will possibly look at shifter series at some point down the track.
I have gone through all the available tracks from the Download catalogue and wrote up a list. There's a few which we cannot use because of framerate issues, some have issues with track layout clarity, some have track barrier issues which I wasn't happy with and some have just wierd issues. I am hoping for a little variety in track types and track speeds so there is a few tracks in the list.
On a practice run of Russian Ring, I went off the track, through the gravel and fell off the face of the planet. On the plus side, I got the KC3 to reach 180Kph ;D.
will we throw in some short tracks? Essay Short, Lonato Short and Magesq Historic?
Lonato Short is definitely in there ;)
Tell me when you finish with rfactor so we can race tonight :)
Tonight won't finish till after 10 and after Practice, Qual and then 90 mins of racing, I'll be pretty spent. If you are home Wednesday afternoon, I'll fire up the server for an hour or 2
im working 5pm-9pm
I'll have the server up at 2.30 but will have to be done by 4.00
Great news! Just looked at my roster, and I'm not working Wednesday 8)
But, Tim (mitdawg) and I tested toowoomba tonight, it is great racing and stuff but you can't race because the lanes aren't done properly yet
[EDIT] I Have sent you a pm,

That's a shame......... There are a few tracks available to replace it but it would have been great to have it in our championship. Maybe we can have it late in the season and ask nicely for it to be fixed up beforehand :)
I was also going to finish off a project I am currently working on then setup a league website to be a sub-domain on my current hosting. If we can get consistent numbers for the first series, I have no problem putting more time into it and making it happen much quicker. I will also look 24-hour dedicated game hosting if the need arises (but that is expensive and getting a little ahead of ourselves for now)
I say you shift it to the final round, hopefully it will be fixed by then... Hows the calendar going?
Getting onto it today. Will have a preliminary schedule this afternoon and also some preliminary rules. Will post it up on Wednesday after the second test.
send it to me, so i can revise the rules, so we have a discussion about it so we have a fair idea, and i need to know the rules and stuff for the poster
