Title: How to play LAN through VPN
Post by: brillo76 on April 30, 2013, 04:55:18 PM
Hello.
I have a problem. I would like to play in lan through vpn.
I have an openvpn server.
The connection is successful.
The host PC has address 192.168.1.8
The client PC has address 10.10.0.6
Ping works on both PCs.
There is no firewall on both pc.
I Launch kart racing pro local host (192.168.1.8 )
Then launch kart racing pro on the client (10.10.0.6)
At this point what should I select on the client? (I've tried everything but I can not
see the PC that acts as a server (192.168.1.8 )
Thank you for your availability.

Your problem is that a tunneled OpenVpn connection doesn't send broadcasts to the other end.
KRP in LAN mode needs UDP broadcasts to detect a server in the lan.

Use OpenVpn in bridge mode and it should work.
You can also try the tool described here: https://forums.openvpn.net/topic7319.html

I tried the program but still does not work.
I can not make a bridged connection because there would be other problems.
When I have time I analyze the network traffic and try to find a solution.
Dibu, thank you for the excellent advice.
